A Villainous Aristocrat's Pursuit of Peace ~ Reincarnated as the Most Talented Mage in History, I'll Achieve Supremacy in order to live a peaceful life with My Maid~ - chapter 68
“What are you going to write next?”
“Well, just watch. I’ll finish it soon.”
I casually dismissed Yumiel’s question and focused on creating the magic circle.
The magic circle I’m about to create now is called “Goddess’s Blessing,” which temporarily enhances the power of the Sanctuary I created earlier by several tens of times, depending on its completion. Well, this magic circle is also a long-lost spell, but unfortunately, I have the advantage of having knowledge from the original work.
This magic circle is considerably simpler than the Sanctuary I created earlier, but in exchange, it’s like a high-level skill that uses even more mana than the Sanctuary. Still, I should be able to activate it with my mana… hopefully.
As soon as I started drawing it, my body instantly released a massive amount of mana, and the heavy consumption caused me to experience mild dizziness and fatigue.
“Jin-sama…!?”
“I-It’s okay… I’m just a bit lightheaded from the magic power consumption. You can continue sending mana to the queen.”
“I understand.”
Mea seemed to be on the verge of rushing over to me in concern, but I used my hand to hold her back. She had a slightly displeased expression at being stopped, but she obediently continued to send mana to the queen.
I’ll do something for her later…
With those thoughts in mind, I didn’t stop drawing the magic circle. Even though more than half of my mana was already depleted, it was still continuously being absorbed.
Damn… It’s tough to do this with sheer brute force, after all.
In reality, this was a magic circle that the Holy Maiden used with the power of God and was meant to be performed with the involvement of powerful figures in the Church, such as archbishops and cardinals. It was abnormal for a single person to attempt it.
When I thought about it that way, I realized the tremendous power of the divine.
…I should consider making a spell to kill a god just in case.
Honestly, the situation had become so far from the original story that I couldn’t even mention it anymore. So, it might be wise to prepare for something as drastic as that.
While I was pondering such things, the magic circle finally accumulated enough mana. I was down to less than a tenth of my mana, but it was enough, and I breathed a small sigh of relief.
I managed to stand up somehow, using brain enhancements to disguise the dizziness clouding my consciousness. I made my way to the queen’s side.
Mea’s mana had also decreased, and she looked a bit unwell, but thanks to Yumiel continually casting healing magic on the two of us, she was surprisingly energetic.
As for the queen…
“I guess a degraded version of the Sanctuary isn’t enough to heal you, is it?”
A soft, radiant light enveloped the queen’s entire body, as if trying to pull something dark from within her. However, the dark force inside her still held strong, and the curse had yet to be lifted.
After ceasing the flow of mana to Mea, I cradled her and gently laid her in the center of the magic circle created by “Goddess’s Blessing.”
Then, I began the final incantation.
“Asking the goddess’s aid, bestow thy light, and free this soul from darkness… Goddess’s Blessing!”
As I finished my incantation, an immense surge of mana emitted a blinding light that enveloped the surroundings.
“Where is…?”
The emaciated and withered figure of the queen, who had lost all her body fat and resembled a mummy, was no longer there. In her place, an equally beautiful woman, in my eyes, a hundred million times more beautiful than Mea, opened her eyes. She looked bewildered and confused as she slowly rose.
“Oh, Queen… I apologize for making you wait… But the curse that once afflicted you is finally completely lifted!”
Tears streamed down Yumiel’s face as he rushed to the queen, who had just been freed from the curse. He knelt beside her. Upon hearing his words, the queen touched her hands, her legs, and her face. Then, she reached up and wiped away the tears streaming from her large eyes.
“Am I… alive?”
“Yes!”
“This isn’t a dream, is it?”
“No, it’s not.”
“I see… That’s reassuring…”
With those words, the queen, who seemed to have been on edge, gently closed her eyes and drifted into a peaceful slumber. For a brief moment, I thought she might have passed away, but her vital signs were stronger than before, and it became clear that she was just sleeping. A wave of relief washed over me.
Well, that was quite exhausting… I’m glad I had thought of a way to save the queen in my past life. I never expected it to actually work, though.
In reality, casting this spell was a gamble. I wasn’t even sure if I could cast it or how much magical power it would require. Furthermore, if the curse had progressed any further within her body, no amount of magic would have been able to lift it.
It was truly a series of miraculous events that led to this outcome.
“Phew…”
“You did well, Jin.”
“Yeah, you too, Mea.”
As I leaned against the wall and watched Yumiel crying by the sleeping queen’s side, Mea came over to my side, comforting me. Mea’s voice was so soothing… truly a voice that could heal anyone.
I was lost in the calming sound of Mea’s bell-like voice when Yumiel, still shedding tears, bowed his head towards us.
“Thank you so much for saving our queen,” he said.
“It’s not a big deal. I did it for Mea,” I replied.
“Even so, our queen is the symbol of our elves. If she had passed away, not only would the seal not have been lifted, but our entire realm would have fallen into panic. Thank you so much.”
In the game, that was certainly the case. The queen was deeply loved by her people. However, I couldn’t help but feel that, despite the gratitude, the situation was far from resolved.
Nevertheless…
“Forget about me; you should take care of the queen.”
For now, it would be good to let them enjoy this brief moment of peace.
