A Different World? Trading Between Worlds - Ch 2, Ep 37 - The Ship and Ea
The Ship and Ea
As Watari sat still on the ship, his mood gradually began to sour.
The creaking sounds and the songs of the rowers weren’t particularly bothersome, but sitting still in the cramped cabin was suffocating.
On top of that, he couldn’t see outside at all.
He had long finished replying to emails, and he didn’t feel like watching the downloaded movies for some reason.
As he sat back in his chair, Watari muttered softly, “I’m bored.”
“Master, are you going to read a book?”
“No, I’ve just been sitting here alone in silence, and I’m getting restless. Maybe I should go up on deck for a bit.”
“I’ll accompany you as a guard…”
“Sorry. Then, Mariel, could you watch over the luggage in the cabin for me?”
“Yes, please take your time.”
“Thank you. I appreciate it. Let’s play cards later.”
It was a bit regrettable to leave Mariel alone, but the cabin contained the luggage they were using for this journey. Since it also held a large amount of money collected from the Welcome Company, it couldn’t be left unattended.
Later, they would switch places so that Mariel could also breathe in some fresh air outside.
When Watari climbed the stairs to the deck, he found that many crew members were still bustling about.
A slightly moist, cool breeze brushed his face.
Breathing in the fresh air, he felt refreshed.
The Ship and Ea
“Ah, it’s a nice breeze. The air tastes good.”
“Yeah, it feels great. The scenery is beautiful too.”
“I’ll have to give Mariel a break later.”
“Ahh! I’m tired from practicing so hard for the first time in a while.”
“I haven’t been moving my body much lately.”
“Yeah. If we don’t engage in real combat, we’ll get rusty. We need to be careful.”
“It would be nice if there was someone here to spar with.”
“The battle with Iida was interesting, but it’s different this time.”
Surrounding them was gentle flat land, creating a carpet of green. It was a land with very few undulations, seemingly visible to the horizon. Perhaps because there were few obstacles, the wind blew strongly. High in the sky, white clouds flowed swiftly. The shining sunlight was pleasantly cooled by the wind.
As her long golden hair fluttered in the wind, Ea held onto it. Bathed in the sunlight, it sparkled like gold. In this world, her tiger ears, which she didn’t hide, could be seen sticking out.
She was truly a beautiful girl. Despite her exquisitely crafted appearance that didn’t seem human, she was simultaneously vivid and full of life. Her large, gem-like eyes looked at Watari with joy. Just by looking into her eyes, Watari could tell that Ea was enjoying the current situation.
“She’s really beautiful.”
“Yeah, it’s a wonderful sight.”
“No, Ea, you’re the beautiful one.”
“…Thank you.”
Ea blushed shyly.
It’s okay to express affection as many times as you want. If it’s sincere, all the more so.
Suddenly, he felt the urge to kiss her. He grabbed her shoulder and leaned in close.
Ea closed her eyes as she sensed Watari’s touch.
She didn’t care about people’s gazes.
After spending some time together, Watari no longer felt guilty towards Mariel or Ea.
He kissed her slowly, enjoying the sensation of their lips.
Their tongues intertwined, exchanging saliva.
When he lightly nibbled on her plump, elastic lips, Ea’s body trembled.
Her eyes, gazing at Watari, were moist and beautiful.
He gently played with her sharp canine teeth with his tongue and stroked her ear.
After a while, Ea pushed his shoulder gently, so Watari pulled back.
The lingering feeling of their kiss remained on their lips and tongues.
Watari understood why Ea ended the kiss.
Captain Masques left the helm and approached them.
Ea quickly smoothed out her clothes and discreetly stood behind Watari.
“How’s the voyage going?” asked Captain Masques.
“Captain Masques. Yes, being inside the cabin gets boring quickly, but the view from the ship is outstanding,” Watari replied.
“That’s right. The scenery may not change much, but it’s very beautiful. As the cityscape gradually comes into view and approaches, it stirs the heart. How’s the ship?” the captain asked.
“It’s wonderful. The sway isn’t too bad, and it’s impressive how the ship pushes upstream,” Watari remarked.
“That’s right, that’s right.”
Although the river’s flow was gentle, it was a single-masted ship powered by rowing.
This ship, which carried a large amount of cargo and pushed forward steadily, was quite impressive.
Not only the ship but also the crew was skilled.
They adjusted the angle of the sails and the steering precisely to avoid being swept away by the wind and the river’s current.
Perhaps the rowers synchronized their breathing to make subtle adjustments on both sides.
They could see an arched bridge ahead.
Because the river was wide, the bridge was also quite large, supported by several pillars.
However, considering the height of the mast, Watari couldn’t help but feel anxious about whether they could pass under it.
“You’ve passed under it many times, right? You guys don’t collide with it?” Watari asked.
“No problem. Well, occasionally someone does hit it,” Captain Masques replied.
“There are incidents like that!?”
“Our ship is fine. The helmsmen are experienced. Look.”
“Wow, amazing! You fit through such a narrow gap perfectly!”
“Incredible.”
Despite being affected by the wind and the river’s current, the ship’s bow advanced as if guided directly under the arch’s highest point.
The bridge pillar passed right in front of their eyes.
They could see the bridge pier, which was thrust at a right angle to the flow of the river, spraying water.
It seemed to be covered in moss, perhaps due to the passage of many years.
Just as when riding a bus effortlessly through winding mountain roads, it was a skillful feat of navigation.
Watari, who was nervous like a learner driver, felt that he would never be able to do such maneuvers in his life.
Watari and Ea admired the progress of the ship while feeling impressed.
“But it seems like you’re bored,” Captain Masques remarked.
“Does it look that way?”
“Yeah. How about we have some fun until we reach the city?”
“Is that alright?”
“Yeah, entertaining the guests is also my job. My subordinates can handle things for now.”
Watari looked at Ea’s face.
After finishing her martial arts practice, Ea seemed quite bored.
He also wanted to give Mariel a break.
Thinking about it, it didn’t seem like a bad suggestion.
“What kind of fun?” Ea asked.
“Dice. Dice, cards, and alcohol are the norms for sailors,” Masques replied.
‘Ah, I see.
Dice existed in this world too.’
