Emperor Phoenix World - Chapter 40 This is the last time
“Alright.” Yiluo nodded and walked over to Yilin, assisting her to sit on a large piece of bluestone.
Yemo hurriedly moved in front of Yilin, her right hand emitting a pale golden light.
“Miss, you can’t do this,” Yilin’s expression instantly changed upon seeing the pale golden light emanating from Ye Mo’s hand. “Using this power will only consume your physical strength further. We are currently in the mountains, and if you collapse, Yiluo and I will be in grave danger. Miss, even for our sakes, you mustn’t use this power.”
Yiluo was also alarmed by Ye Mo’s actions. A year ago, when Yilin’s body had erupted, the young lady had used this pale golden light to save Yilin, but it had nearly cost the young lady her life in the process.
Yemo understood why Yilin was insisting against her using the power—it wasn’t just about conserving her energy.
Yilin’s reasoning was valid. They were currently in the mountains, surrounded by not only monsters but also potential encounters with Ye Yan and others. If she were to fall unconscious, Ye Yan wouldn’t let the opportunity pass by.
With this in mind, Ye Mo withdrew her hand, gazing at Yilin. “Yilin, for now, you’ll have to endure it a little longer.”
“I can endure it,” Yilin replied with a smile, though the pain made it appear more like a grimace. “Miss, I’ve experienced pain many times before. I can withstand it.”
“Alright,” Ye Mo nodded. “For the time being, that’s our only option. Yilin, take a rest, and when you’re feeling better, we’ll continue our journey.”
“Okay,” Yilin agreed, this time without protesting.
Yemo and Yiluo stayed by Yilin’s side, watching her suffer in pain. Both of them felt a deep sadness.
“Yilin, hold on a little longer,” Yiluo comforted her, using a handkerchief to wipe the sweat from Yilin’s brow. “It’ll pass soon, and things will get better.”
Ye Mo also gazed at Yilin and said, “This will be the last time. It won’t hurt anymore.”
Yilin weakly responded, “I’m fine, this is the last time. I’ve survived through so many of them.”
Yemo stood in front of Yilin in silence. Each time Yilin endured this agony, she felt an intense urge to find the person responsible for poisoning her and exact her vengeance.
A quarter of an hour later, Yilin gradually stabilized. She was covered in sweat, her face pallid, leaning weakly against Yiluo.
Ye Mo gave her a pill to ingest and checked her pulse with a frown.
The elixir needed to be accelerated; otherwise, it would become increasingly challenging to rid Yilin’s body of the poison.
They weren’t in any rush. After Yilin endured an episode, she needed time to recover.
As darkness fell, Yilin started to feel better.
“Miss, Yiluo,” Yilin looked at them and smiled weakly. “I’m fine now; let’s continue our journey.”
Upon hearing this, Ye Mo glanced at the darkening sky. “It’s getting late. Let’s rest for the night.”
“It’s not too late.”
“Indeed,” Yiluo supported Yilin, “You should rest now.”
Yilin looked at the sky and realized that it would be difficult to continue their journey under these circumstances. She settled down where they were.
With Yilin in this condition, neither Yemo nor Yiluo left her side.
Ye Mo had stored some food in her space earlier and now took it out for them to eat.
After providing food for Yilin and Yiluo, Ye Mo sat on a nearby stone herself.
