Hell App - Chapter 121 - Results
Before he read this question, Bai Yan had never suspected Ning Xiaobo and Xu Yue.
Because he went to bed early yesterday and did not pay attention to what happened afterwards, he speculated that those two had probably examined their beds. Likely, they respectively discovered the nails inside the pillow and the doll stuck under the covers, therefore avoiding the danger.
Now, the more Bai Yan studied them, the more he thought they resembled ghosts.
“Is it Ning Xiaobo or Xu Yue? I should’ve studied more last night instead of going to bed so early……”
Bai Yan was unsure of who to choose. Seeing that there were still 40 minutes remaining, he didn’t rush to answer the problem. Instead, he raised his head to observe how his classmates were doing.
Before the exam, Ning Xiaobo had emphasized that cheating was not allowed.
Before she became a ghost, some students might’ve dared to ignore her. But now, no one had the guts to challenge her abilities.
Therefore, all the students obediently kept their heads lowered, and no one had any thoughts of copying others’ papers.
Around 30 minutes passed by. When there were only ten minutes left of the exam, the students started to finish the front page one by one. They flipped the paper over, discovering the bonus problem worth 60 points.
After reading the question, almost everyone’s heads shot up, unable to resist the urge to observe the surrounding classmates.
Because Bai Yan was the first to raise his head, he had a clear view of everyone’s expression.
Although Ning Xiaobo and Xu Yue were his primary suspects, he was also wary of the rest of his classmates.
In the past few days, everyone had schemed against each other to reduce competition. It is possible that when he wasn’t paying attention, someone had quietly fallen victim and died.
However, currently, he had observed his classmates for half an hour and still did not discover anything out of the ordinary.
This included Ning Xiaobo and Xu Yue. When those two reached the bonus problem, they showed an expression of surprise and confusion. They looked around and met Bai Yan’s eyes several times, behaving no differently from the rest of the classmates.
“……All of the classmates seem to be acting normally, but that shouldn’t be possible. Could there be a mistake with the exam?”
When this thought appeared, Bai Yan immediately dispelled it. The ‘Special District’ has a lot of power, therefore the exam shouldn’t have mistakes and there isn’t any reason to test the students with erroneous questions.
The time slowly slipped by. When there was only one minute left of the exam, the students moved their pencils one by one. Trying not to worry about whether their answer was correct or not, they rapidly wrote down the name of their greatest suspect.
Bai Yan looked around once more, but he still didn’t notice anything unusual.
Finally, after careful consideration, he hastily wrote down Ning Xiaobo’s name at the last moment——Yesterday, Ning Xiaobo poured glue into his water and kept eyeing him, acting in a stupid manner. To be this clumsy when trying to sabotage others, it’s obvious that his intelligence is rather low.
Perhaps after he fell asleep last night, Ning Xiaobo fell for his trick and kicked the bucket. It is better to write down his name than an unfamiliar classmate!
Having completed the exam, Bai Yan handed in the paper under Ning Xiuli’s watchful gaze.
Soon, everyone’s exam papers were turned in.
The classroom door was still tightly closed. Ning Xiuli remained silent, and no one dared to leave the classroom.
In this tense environment, everyone motionlessly sat in their assigned seats. Their gaze was fixated on Ning Xiuli, who was standing behind the lectern.
She remained wordless and began to grade the exam papers with a red pen.
“Screech——”
“Screech——”
The pen emitted ear-piercing sounds as it was dragged across the paper. As the exam papers in front of Ning Xiuli decreased one by one, the children’s hearts palpitated fiercely.
The exam this time wasn’t very difficult. Most of them have encountered the exam’s content before, and possibly even witnessed the answers with their own eyes.
However, the exam results weren’t only based on getting at least 60 points, which was the minimum requirement to pass. If everyone did well on the exam, then the people with the lowest scores would be eliminated until only twenty are left overall.
When Ning Xiuli only had two exam papers left to grade, the classroom became so quiet that even the sound of breathing was almost inaudible.
Finally, Ning Xiuli finished grading the exams.
She lifted two piles of exam papers. The brighter students quickly understood what her intention was.
Sure enough, Ning Xiuli opened her mouth to show a slight smile, exposing a sliver of her sharp teeth.
However, it was only for a moment. Her expression returned to normal, firmly concealing the jagged teeth behind her lips.
Noticing that all the students’ gazes were focused on her, Ning Xiuli immediately put on a serious expression. She displayed a peculiar smile and spoke sardonically, “Because of all your hard work this year, everyone did well on the exam and not a single person failed! For this, I must commend you all!
However, it is a pity that this is a dog-eat-dog world. Even in school, only the most outstanding students can receive higher education. The rest are only shameful failures, the dregs of society!
Dregs, they have no right to live in this world!”
Having said this, she raised the papers slightly and began to call out names with a stern face. With each name she read aloud, the corresponding person’s face would instantly turn pale.
While Ning Xiuli was calling out names, Bai Yan was gloating with schadenfreude. His face was full of anticipation, as if he was enjoying an interesting drama.
He leisurely watched as his classmates panicked, savoring their looks of despair. He felt very refreshed and satisfied, as if he ate a copious amount of Stride chewing gum.
Bai Yan’s heart soared with confidence. He thought he did rather well on the exam and wouldn’t be eliminated.
However, his good mood didn’t last long. Ning Xiuli suddenly called out his name.
“……”
Was it possible that the other classmates all achieved above 90 points? They managed to figure out the bonus problem?
Including the bonus problem, Bai Yan was only unsure of the answers to two questions!
Bai Yan’s face fell, and his eyes were filled with shock. He couldn’t believe that, apparently, he was one of the dumbest students in the classroom!
Ning Xiaobo’s name wasn’t called out yet, causing Bai Yan to glare at him with resentment. He was unwilling to accept the fact that he was even more stupid than this little fatty.
However, as Ning Xiuli continued to read through the names, Bai Yan’s face slowly returned to normal, and he regained his lost confidence.
Ning Xiuli had already called out more than 13 names, which is far more than the number of students who are supposed to be eliminated.
Sure enough, she read out 20 names in succession before lowering the exam papers.
Then, she nodded at them with a close lip smile and ‘kindly’ announced, “These twenty students did well on the exam. Congratulations to you all! Tomorrow, you will enter second grade!”
Ning Xiuli tucked the twenty exam papers into her arms and tossed the rest onto the floor. She smiled sinisterly and declared, “The rest of you are unqualified students. From this moment on, you are expelled from school!
“You can pack up your things and leave. Hurry up and get out, don’t embarrass me in front of the school!”
“Teacher, can we really leave now?”
“Teacher, are you lying to us? We can go home just like that?”
When the students heard that those who failed the exam are expelled from school, they were not worried. Instead, they wore expressions of joy.
They have never imagined that failing the exam could have this kind of benefit.
The dozen or so students who failed didn’t think twice. There was only one student who remained uneasy, unable to believe that they could leave the school this easily. However, he was also tempted by the idea of going home. Influenced by his peers, he disregarded the irrationality of this situation.
Seeing that Ning Xiuli was impatiently nodding her head, the students did not hide their excitement. They wore smiles as they stood up to leave the classroom, eager to escape this hellish place.
