“Sister Lan, I was praised!”
“President Yu, here is the compiled employment intention survey for AoHuang. Please review it.”
In the office, Dai Lin handed over the printed documents.
Yu Aolan calmly took a sip of tea, her slender fingers gracefully grasping the not-too-thick white paper, the elegance of her well-defined knuckles was pleasing to the eye.
Unfortunately, no one present dared to appreciate it.
Dai Lin, with her head lowered, reported with full knowledge of all the data: “Based on the survey results, 103 people at headquarters expressed interest in learning more about AoHuang’s development plans. Most concerns are focused on salary and risk management. A small number of people privately asked me if they could return to the headquarters if they regret joining during the internship period. I did not give a clear answer.”
“Continue,” Yu Aolan flipped through the files, swiftly browsing each report. She read quickly, and in no time, she had gone through almost half of them.
The number of employees at headquarters wasn’t massive but was certainly not small, with over 500, almost 600 people in total.
Less than 20% of them expressed an initial interest in working for AoHuang, which was something she had anticipated.
After all, not everyone has the courage to give up their current generous salary and choose to venture into a new field with her.
Moreover, Yu Aolan didn’t plan on hiring too many people. AoHuang was her creation, and it would undoubtedly require a lot of her attention in the future. The staff needed to be skilled, not plentiful.
“Thirty-six people expressed a clear desire to join AoHuang and provided many feasible ideas and suggestions in the comments section,” Dai Lin glanced cautiously at Yu Aolan. Though her heart was pounding, she continued to speak, “Xiong Zhuxuan from the Legal Department has shown a strong interest in joining AoHuang. She even drafted a proposal specifically for AoHuang’s development, hoping President Yu could review it.”
She wasn’t supposed to bring this up, but out of personal reasons, she did.
Having been friends for so many years, Dai Lin knew about Xiong’s passion and desire for this opportunity. She also hoped that Xiong’s wish could be fulfilled.
So, this was all she could do—mention it casually.
“Oh?”
Yu Aolan’s curiosity was piqued by the unexpected answer, and she raised her gaze to look at Dai Lin.
Forced to meet her gaze, Dai Lin held her ground, refusing to show weakness under the pressure.
She kept reassuring herself internally: “I’m speaking up for Xiong because she’s capable and fit for the role, not because of favoritism. Yes, I’m helping President Yu find talent, not letting any good employee slip away…”
Yu Aolan, with a faint smile, let her gaze linger on Dai Lin for a few seconds before returning to the report, casually remarking:
“I hear you’ve known Xiong Zhuxuan for many years.”
It sounded like a question, but her tone was certain. Hearing this, cold sweat broke out on Dai Lin’s forehead, as if an invisible weight had suddenly pressed down on her, making her knees feel weak.
She couldn’t help but smile bitterly: Of course, nothing escapes President Yu.
Being honest seemed like the safest route.
“Yes, President Yu, we were college roommates. From what I know, she should be the person in our company most familiar with the entertainment industry.”
Yu Aolan didn’t seem to hear, focusing instead on the report, but she didn’t interrupt Dai Lin’s explanation.
Receiving no response, Dai Lin could only continue her “confession.”
“She was a fan of celebrities when she was younger. According to her mother, she was quite obsessed, but she had to give it up because of her studies. When she finally had the means to get back into it, her favorite idol had already retired, and she’s felt regretful ever since.”
“President Yu, I’ve seen her proposal. Personally, I think her passion and professionalism align perfectly with the type of employees AoHuang needs.”
Having said all that needed to be said, Dai Lin could only wait and hope for the best. She lowered her eyes, bracing for judgment.
Yu Aolan flipped to the final page of the report, closed her eyes, and mentally processed all the feedback.
In the silence, she spoke: “She’s done well in the Legal Department.”
Dai Lin lifted her head, waiting for further instructions.
“Being friends with you for so many years, I’m sure she’s not lacking. Since you’re vouching for her, have her come in.”
Dai Lin breathed a sigh of relief, her expression lightening immediately: “Understood, President Yu! Thank you, President Yu!”
“Mm.” Yu Aolan waved her hand, signaling her to leave.
As Dai Lin opened the door and turned to leave, Lin Suoyan rushed in, out of breath, knocking symbolically on the door, “Sister Lan…”
The door was still open, and Yu Aolan could clearly see Lin Suoyan gasping for air.
Her demeanor with employees was very different from that with artists. Moments ago, Yu Aolan had a commanding presence, but now her expression softened a bit: “What’s going on?”
Lin Suoyan’s face was slightly flushed, half from excitement and half from running. He held up his phone and said, “Teacher Dong Damiao praised me on Weibo!”
“Oh… Hmm?” Yu Aolan was about to say that her arranged promotion finally worked, but she suddenly remembered—she hadn’t arranged anyone to go to Dong Damiao.
Could it be an organic recommendation? That was rare.
“Let me see the phone.”
“Here, Sister Lan,” Lin Suoyan was still caught up in his excitement.
After being invisible for years and not even catching the attention of music critics, within less than a month of signing, he was being praised by a well-known critic as “promising.”
He knew it was all thanks to Sister Lan. Without her, he would still be struggling in life’s mire. As he thought about it, his nose tingled with emotion.
Sneaking a glance at Sister Lan, who remained calm and composed, Lin Suoyan immediately snapped back to reality: I can’t lose my composure in front of Sister Lan!
Furrowing his brows and looking up at the ceiling, he hoped that would help him hold back his tears.
Yu Aolan finished reading Dong Damiao’s post on Weibo, feeling a bit more pleased. She also checked the data on Lin Suoyan’s new song.
The growth rate was impressive. Not bad.
She handed the phone back to Lin Suoyan: “The teacher helped you with promotion, so make sure to thank him. You have a Weibo account, right?”
“Yes, I do.”
“Good. You’re responsible for managing your Weibo now. Check your previous posts and delete anything inappropriate. From now on, be mindful of your words and actions, understood?”
“Understood!”
With Yu Aolan’s guidance, Lin Suoyan sincerely thanked Teacher Dong on Weibo and released another song he had written, maintaining his high standards.
Dong Damiao was even more satisfied. Excellent—still diligently writing music. He hadn’t let success go to his head. Young people like him were worth appreciating.
With the foundation set, it was time to move on to the next stage.
After successfully signing up for a competition, Lin Suoyan posted the news on Ting Music’s platform.
Most of the feedback was supportive, except for one person, who stared at the post intensely before suddenly exploding in rage, smashing their phone to pieces with enough force to shatter it.
Great. So you’re going to blatantly offend me, huh?!
