- Chapter 4 - Talked to Your Crush for Few Minutes
After the tournament, I chatted outside with Kazuya and other male club members while waiting for the time to meet up. However, I returned inside to find the toilet.
I came out of the bathroom after wiping my hands with a handkerchief. There, I saw a female student from another school who was having a staring contest with a vending machine.
That female student was someone I longed for. There was no way I could have mistaken her for someone else.
“Sa, Sairenji!?” I called out her name, not believing I was finally seeing the girl of my dreams in real life.
“Huh? … Nakasuji?” said Sairenji while holding a water bottle.
“Mhm, yeah. It’s been a while.”
I’m touched that you remembered me.
“Truly. It’s been since my junior high school graduation ceremony.”
“Uh-huh. Also, congratulations on making it to the national tournament.”
“Thank you”
No good…. I was so nervous that I couldn’t hold a conversation properly.
Conversation drawers in my head kept opening to find a topic somehow.
The one that came out of my mouth was,
“If, if you don’t mind, would you like to go outside with me?”
No, no, there’s no way she’d accept an invitation from someone she barely talked to in middle school!?
I regretted saying those words to Sairenji…
“……Okay”
She readily accepted my invitation with a smile.
“Ah! Thank you. It’s just around the corner, shall we go then?”
I walked outside with the person I longed for while thanking Sairenji and prostrated myself over and over in my mind for her generosity to my unexpected request.
“Even so, Nakasuji really lost weight! I thought you were a different person because your body shape was so different.”
“Ah, thank you. Yeah, I started dieting during the winter break of my third year, but I didn’t truly devote dieting until after I finished my entrance exams. From then on, I worked hard and got into my current shape.”
“That’s right. Nakasuji, I can see that you made great efforts. Why did you started dieting?”
“W, well.”
There’s no way I could say: ‘I started dieting because I love you and want to be close to you.’
“I don’t know what has changed inside of you, Nakasuji, but I think your current body shape is better after all. And… -ool.”
“Eh?”
I couldn’t hear her last word, so I unconsciously looked at Sairenji.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t read her expression because her face was on the other way. But I think she was in a good mood. Let’s ask for her contact information since I didn’t know when I would see her again.
Luckily, Miyahara, who was always with her, wasn’t around.
“Well, you see, Sairenji.”
“Huh!? Wha, What?”
Sairenji turned towards me in a panic when I called out her name.
Huh? Her face looks red… maybe it is because of the heat?
No, that’s not the point now.
I was so nervous that my throat became dry, and my hands were sweating, but I had to muster up the courage to ask for Sairenji’s contact information.
“If, if you don’t mind, Cont—”
“Ayana! Hurry back, the bus will be leaving!”
Sairenji and I turn towards the direction of the voice.
Then, I saw Chika Miyahara running toward me.
Ooii! We could have exchanged contact information a little later, but please give me back the courage I had.
“Huh? Maybe Nakasuji?”
“Uh, yeah. Long time no see, Miyahara.”
“Wow, you’re so skinny! Seriously, I didn’t recognize you at first,” said Miyahara while patting me on the shoulder.
Wasn’t she too close? While I was thinking that suddenly my brain stopped functioning when I saw Miyahara in uniform.
I didn’t know if it was because she felt hot or if she was always like that. She had three buttons of her uniform shirt undone, and through them, I could see the cleavage created by Miyahara’s generously ripened twin hills.
She wore sailor uniforms in middle school, so I knew how big they were, but her cleavage was never visible to our classmates.
“Well, this isn’t the time to talk. It looks like the bus is leaving, so let’s go, Ayana. See you, Nakasuji.”
“Eh!? Uh, yeah. See you soon, Nakasuji.”
Then, the two ran and left the venue.
As I looked at their back, I felt excitement about having a proper conversation with her for the first time and regretted not getting her contact information.

“You talked to Sairenji!?”
“Shh… You’re too loud!”
On the train home, I tried to talk about what happened between going to the bathroom and meeting up with Kazuya and the others, but when I said, “I’ve been talking to Sairenji,” he seemed surprised.
Well, it might be a natural reaction from Kazuya, who knows that I hardly spoke to her until now.
Kazuya’s loud voice caused the club members and other passengers to turn towards him immediately. We apologized while bowing our heads to those people for making a fuss.
“I saw Sairenji beside the vending machine when I came out of the bathroom… It’s an amazing coincidence, isn’t it?”
“I believe so. If didn’t participate in the competition then, you wouldn’t have even been able to meet, let alone talk to her.”
It may sound like an exaggeration, but it is an undeniable fact that my fate changed because I went to the bathroom at that time. I was able to talk to Sairenji-san, albeit for a short time.
“So? What did you talk about?” Aks Kazuya while grinning, perhaps half amused.
“Nothing much, just a casual conversation such as congratulating her on making it to the nationals, and talking about my weight.”
“Well, you didn’t have much time to begin with. But this is the first time you held a conversation properly, so it’s a big improvement!”
It seemed like Kazuya was really impressed, and that made him compliment me. Then, his expression suddenly became serious…
“And then? Did you get her contact information?” He asked while bringing his face closer. I think that’s what he was concerned about, so I’ll answer truthfully.
“Well, to be honest, I was thinking of asking, but right before I could speak, Miyahara came over and said,” The bus will be leaving,” then she took Sairenji’s hand and ran off. I lost my chance to ask her.”
“Seriously… Miyahara, her timing is good. However, it feels like the opportunity to meet her again will be far away. Another chance will probably be at the Takasaki High School festival.”
“Perhaps… two months away until I can see her.”
I remember that Takasaki High School’s school festival was held in the second half of October every year, so I said this with a sigh.
“Well, don’t be so pessimistic. The fact that you have a chance to meet her means that more opportunities will come your way, so let’s think positively.”
“That’s right.”
Comforted by my best friend, I decided to be optimistic while looking at the scenery from the bus window.
