Kikori no Isekai Tan - Chapter 10
“This is incredible…”
The basement of the Adventurer’s Guild looked like an exhibition of weapons and armor.
Or rather, it seemed a bit too disorganized to be called an exhibition.
Without the staff at the counter, one could easily mistake it for a storage room.
“Welcome. Do you have money with you?”
“About 6,000 yen.”
When he answered with the maximum amount he could spend, including his remaining travel funds, the staff nodded.
“Well, that amount should be fine for something not too expensive. Take your time browsing.”
“Have there been any incidents of shoplifting?”
“If they can do it, I’d like to see them try,” the staff said, touching a spear on the counter, causing Kikori to almost reflexively raise his hands in surrender.
Anyway, it seemed like the security was very tight.
“This is… a helmet.”
It was a so-called bucket helm, priced at 3,000 yen.
Not cheap, but not overly expensive either.
“Um… may I touch this helmet?”
“Go ahead. It’s a used item.”
It felt quite heavy when he touched it.
He tried it on, but it was a bit too large.
It didn’t seem usable for Kikori.
He put the helmet back and continued looking at other items.
Swords, shields, armor… with various materials and shapes, there was truly a wide array of items.
However, determining what Kikori needed among them was quite difficult.
He already had an axe for a weapon, but a knife would save a lot more time and effort when dismantling monsters.
However, it wasn’t an immediate necessity.
So, what about armor?
Wearing a suit of armor like a chainmail would significantly reduce the chances of getting injured.
Even leather armor would make a substantial difference compared to wearing nothing.
“This is… a shield.”
There were many types of shields, from round shields to kite shields, varying in size and material.
All-metal shields, as expected, were quite expensive. A round shield about the size of a pot was priced at 4,000 yen, but its small size made one worry about its defensive capability.
“That shield is meant for deflecting. It requires quite a bit of skill.”
“Ah, I see.”
“Yes. It’s used to deflect attacks and get inside your opponent’s guard. It’s essentially a shield meant for offense.”
It seemed like a good fit, surprisingly.
But how effective would it be for protection?
“It’s also good for shield bashing because it’s easy to handle.”
“By any chance, are you recommending it?”
“That item doesn’t sell very well, you see. Since it’s also difficult to block arrows with it.”
“Then how effective is it as a shield?”
“I told you, it’s all about how you use the shield.”
“But it doesn’t sell well, right?”
“No, it doesn’t.”
“Is there any chance of a discount?”
“No.”
The voice carried a strong sense of determination that there would be absolutely no discounts.
