Kikori no Isekai Tan - Chapter 11
“Or rather, shouldn’t you use a potion first?”
“Uh…”
“Even with good armor, I don’t think you can do anything properly given the clearly battered state of your body.”
Indeed, the heightened tension from the battles with the goblins was fading.
His body, repeatedly struck by the goblin’s club, ached all over, but since he hadn’t been cut, he thought he could heal just by sleeping.
“Well, I thought I’d just sleep it off.”
“Don’t blame me if you can’t move tomorrow. If you can’t pay for your lodging because you’re bedridden, they’ll throw you out without mercy.”
“Ugh.”
“And then the armor you bought will just get stolen by bandits…”
“Are there really bandits?”
“Of course there are.”
The matter-of-fact tone of the staff left Kikori speechless.
He knew this was just a sales pitch, but it was too accurate to ignore.
“How much is the cheapest potion?”
“The more expensive ones are more effective, you know?”
“Because I don’t have that much money.”
“1,000 yen.”
As the staff held out a potion bottle, Kikori moved to hand over the money but then suddenly paused.
“Come to think of it, if these potions are consigned for sale, wouldn’t it be cheaper to buy them elsewhere?”
“You’re unnecessarily perceptive, aren’t you?”
“…”
Kikori’s face went blank as he glared at the staff, who cleared her throat and said, “But you see!”
“Even potions here come with the guild’s guarantee. It follows a standard that rejects potions that are below a certain level of quality. Potions such as cheap, ineffective potions or expensive but ineffective potions….can you differentiate them?”
“….No, I can’t.”
“Right? Then buy it here.”
He certainly didn’t have the luxury of wasting money on ineffective potions.
If it has the guild’s guarantee, it was better to buy from them until he could confidently tell the difference himself.
“Then, I’ll take one.”
“Here you go. Thank you for your patronage.”
He opened the potion and drank it.
The pain disappeared from his body….. and he felt the bruises from the goblin’s club visibly healing.
“Amazing, so this is a potion.”
“Well, yeah. Mm-hmm, your complexion has noticeably improved.”
As the staff nodded, Kikori thought, “Maybe she’s kinder than I thought…”
But the issue of armor remained unresolved.
He could probably think about it slowly overnight, but…
“So, will you be buying anything else?”
“Do you have any recommendations?”
“The 4,000 yen shield there.”
“Uh, I’ll think about it.”
“Surprisingly, I think it suits you.”
Well, Kikori also thought the same.
He thought so but….. the idea of spending 4,000 yen on a shield that wasn’t ideal for defense made him hesitate.
