Looking Forward to Another World - Chapter 13
Riegel lowered his head, apologizing to Loki.
This left Loki at a loss for words, her chest filled with a myriad of thoughts that she couldn’t voice.
All she could do was take a deep breath, her expression still stern as she stared at Riegel.
“I won’t ask what you’ve been through,” Loki said. “I just want to know, did you spend this entire day and night in the Dungeon?”
“Yes,” Riegel nodded, his gaze downcast.
“…You stayed in the Dungeon in this condition for a whole day and night?” Loki’s mouth twitched. “On the first floor?”
“…Not exactly,” Riegel replied after a moment of silence, his voice calm. “If I remember correctly, I passed through the passages to the next floor four times.”
Loki was momentarily stunned by his response.
“Did you… did you go down to the fifth floor?”
Her voice was filled with astonishment, but Riegel responded only with silence.
Loki held her forehead in disbelief.
“Just received a blessing less than a day ago, not even registered as an adventurer at the Guild, and he went down to the fifth floor alone…?”
She felt dizzy at the thought, overwhelmed by frustration.
It’s common knowledge that new adventurers, even in groups of three, would only explore the first floor on their first Dungeon venture.
For rookies, mastering their abilities while managing fear and hesitation is challenging enough, let alone battling monsters and navigating the labyrinth.
Typically, it takes a significant amount of time for newcomers to adapt before they even consider venturing to lower floors.
And even then, a group of rookies would rarely explore beyond the fourth floor, certainly not the fifth.
Familia seniors would undoubtedly prevent such a reckless attempt.
The fifth floor marks a significant increase in danger: the variety and strength of monsters rise, and the Dungeon’s structure becomes more complex.
The encounter rate with monsters increases dramatically from the fifth floor onwards, where the area alone is larger than Orario’s central square, significantly elevating the difficulty of exploration.
A rookie adventurer, without guidance or prior knowledge of the fifth floor’s conditions and monsters, could easily meet their demise there.
Thus, the fifth floor is considered the first real threshold where significant casualties can occur.
And yet, Riegel ventured into the fifth floor on his very first Dungeon trip, without any armor, his ability scores unimproved, and no different from an ordinary person?
It was a death wish!
“I really want to know how you’re still alive.”
Loki looked at Riegel, her eyes filled with extreme anger.
Seeing her reaction, Riegel offered no excuses, just a statement of confusion.
“Actually, I’m surprised too. I intended to head back once exhausted, but for some reason, I never seemed to run out of stamina or lose focus. I just kept fighting, and before I knew it, I had spent an entire day and night in the Dungeon.”
This was the truth.
Riegel had indeed planned to retreat once exhausted.
Caught in a frenzy, he didn’t want to stop, but he wasn’t foolish; he would’ve returned once he physically couldn’t continue.
But Riegel never felt that exhaustion. His physical and mental endurance seemed limitless, no matter how much he fought, ran, or battled. Without realizing it, he had reached the fifth floor.
Had it not been for sudden hunger, he might not have noticed how long he’d been in the Dungeon.
Responding to this, Loki said with irritation, “That’s because of your Development Abilities.”
This comment caught Riegel off guard.
“Development Abilities?”
He furrowed his brows.
“Yes, like I mentioned yesterday, it’s an extra ability one might get when leveling up.”
Loki’s tone was still harsh.
Riegel understood what Development Abilities were. As Loki said, they are special abilities obtained at a certain probability during leveling up, different from the five basic abilities of Power, Endurance, Dexterity, Agility, and Magic Power. They are extensions of basic abilities, adding extra personal attributes.
Unlike basic abilities, Development Abilities are categorized into ten stages from S to I but lack proficiency and are exceptionally difficult to enhance. Yet, they provide passive benefits.
For instance, blacksmiths in this world, upon receiving blessings and leveling up to Lv.2, might gain the Development Ability ‘Blacksmithing.’ This ability allows them to add special attributes to the equipment they craft, creating high-level gear akin to magical equipment.
There are many such Development Abilities, including several that are useful in combat.
Riegel’s skill, ‘Endless,’ granted him three of these Development Abilities.
“The effect of ‘Healing Power’ is automatic stamina recovery. Even without resting, you can recover quickly while fighting.”
“The ‘Spirit Healing’ ability automatically restores mental energy, allowing recovery during combat without needing deep rest.”
“And ‘Abnormal Resistance’ provides immunity to various abnormal statuses, like poisoning.”
Loki sighed.
“The reason you could last a day and a night in the Dungeon without feeling tired lies in these Development Abilities.”
