Looking Forward to Another World - Chapter 15
Loki, well-informed as she was, clearly understood the typical growth rate of a newcomer who had just received a Blessing.
For someone to achieve such rapid growth in just a day and a night was unprecedented. Even among the talented in the Loki Familia, it was common for proficiency to increase by only a few dozen points at the start.
An increase in overall ability proficiency by over 700, nearly 800…?
Loki stared with her divine eyes, fixated on that particular skill on Riegel’s back.
…
(Fool’s Obsession)
– Transcendentally increases growth speed.
– Transcendentally increases growth limit.
– The deeper the obsession, the stronger the effect.
– The effect is significantly enhanced in dangerous situations.
…
There was no question that Riegel’s extraordinary level of growth was due to this skill. It was an effect Loki had never seen before, a unique skill not aimed at enhancing power or providing assistance, but solely focused on aiding growth.
“Orario is about to witness a change…”
The next morning arrived with the faint light of dawn, and Riegel was already awake. Surveying his somewhat unfamiliar room, he momentarily paused before realizing, “I almost forgot, I’ve moved into Twilight Manor.”
This room was in one of the many towers of Twilight Manor, situated on an upper floor. After completing the Ability Value update with Loki yesterday, Riegel had been arranged to stay here. This was now his room within the Twilight Manor, his dwelling in the stronghold of the Loki Familia. From now on, barring any unforeseen circumstances, this room would be Riegel’s to use as he pleased.
Getting out of bed, Riegel first glanced out at the dimly lit morning sky, then began his morning routine. After washing up, he noticed a set of clothes placed at his room’s entrance, seemingly left there by someone. A note on the clothes read, “These were prepared for you by the Chief God.”
Acknowledging the gesture with silent gratitude, Riegel changed into the new clothes. His own, worn during the intense battle of the previous day and night, were beyond salvageable – stained with blood, mud, and torn to shreds.
Besides the clothes, Riegel found a heavy bag filled with gleaming coins at his door, along with another note. “Inside is a total of one hundred thousand valis, consider it your startup fund. Use it wisely. And remember, no entering the Dungeon until you’ve completed my last night’s instructions!” Riegel guessed this too was left by his Chief God.
Remembering the tasks Loki had assigned him after updating his Ability Values, Riegel couldn’t help but smile wryly. “It looks like Loki won’t allow me back into the Dungeon until I’ve completed those preparations.” Resigned to his situation, Riegel accepted the kindness from his Familia.
Choosing not to carry the heavy purse, Riegel placed it in the storage space of his Dimensional Magic Cube. He was already familiar with the operation of the cube’s storage space, having experimented with it while recovering in his original world. A simple thought of ‘store’ made the purse disappear, now safely kept within the cube.
After these preparations, Riegel stepped out of his room into a long, suspended corridor, part of the interconnected towers that formed the Twilight Manor. As he walked along, enjoying the view of the courtyard below, early-rising Familia members passed by, offering morning greetings, which Riegel politely returned.
Exiting the Manor and stepping onto the streets of Orario, Riegel felt the gaze of others behind him fade away, leaving him to his thoughts about the day ahead.
“19 years old.”
Riegel responded promptly.
The registration process was efficient and straightforward. The clerk worked with practiced ease, jotting down Riegel’s details. Once the basic information was completed, she looked up with a professional smile.
“Alright, Mr. Brehaut, your registration as an adventurer is almost complete. We just need to issue you an adventurer’s badge and record your initial Ability Values. Could you please provide your Ability Values for the record?”
Riegel nodded, understanding the procedure. He recited his updated Ability Values, still feeling a sense of disbelief at the significant numbers. The clerk’s eyebrows raised slightly in surprise, but she maintained her composure and noted everything down.
“Very impressive for a Level 1 adventurer,” she commented, handing Riegel a small metal badge. “This is your adventurer’s badge. Make sure to carry it with you at all times inside the Dungeon. It serves as your identification and proof of registration with the Guild.”
Taking the badge, Riegel examined it closely. The badge was intricately designed, featuring the emblem of the Guild – a labyrinth encircling a sword. It was a symbol of commitment and adventure, a tangible representation of his new life in this world.
“Thank you,” Riegel said, attaching the badge to his outfit. It felt like a small but significant step in his journey.
“Now, regarding your next steps,” the clerk continued, “I recommend visiting the equipment shops around the Guild. They offer a wide range of weapons and armor suitable for adventurers of all levels. Since you’re new, you might find something that suits your needs.”
Riegel nodded, thanking the clerk before leaving the counter. As he exited the Guild, he felt a surge of excitement. He was now officially an adventurer, and a new path lay open before him.
His next destination was clear – to acquire new weapons and armor with the funds provided by Loki. With a determined stride, Riegel stepped into the bustling streets of Orario, ready to embark on the next phase of his adventure.
