Looking Forward to Another World - Chapter 7
It was a fortunate moment for Riegel, who, just moments after reminiscing about it, found himself right at the doorstep of the Familia he had been thinking about.
…Could this be fate?
As the sunset painted Orario in a warm glow, the day’s work came to an end. Adventurers returning from the Dungeon and people finishing their daily routines walked the streets with a blend of fatigue and relief, marking the city’s transition into night.
In a corner bathed in the colors of dusk, a woman with loosely tied vermilion hair and squinted eyes walked by. Despite her beautiful appearance, her disheveled look and casual dress gave off a sense of being carefree, almost to the point of irresponsibility. Humming to herself, she soon lost interest, lamenting her boredom aloud. She grumbled about the absence of her usual companions and the lack of excitement during her day’s wanderings.
“Aah, I long for the company of a lovely girl or the affection of Ais-tan,” she sighed, walking distinctively. Her words, casual and audacious, caused passersby to keep their distance.
Deciding to return home for a drink, she headed towards a mansion outside the busy streets — the Twilight Manor—the highest tower, with its flag depicting a clown, fluttered in the wind.
“Huh?” Suddenly, she stopped. By the mansion’s gate stood a human, catching her eye. Her squinted gaze widened slightly, revealing an almost divine sharpness, especially upon seeing that he boldly met her gaze without wavering.
“So, you were waiting here for me,” she deduced with a chuckle. Her laugh strangely mirrored the clown’s image on the flag.
The woman, a goddess, couldn’t resist approaching something interesting. Tired of the mundane life in the heavens and seeking entertainment, she had willingly sealed her divine powers to dwell among mortals. Her unique personality shone through as she casually strolled towards the young man.
“Yo, kid, what brings you here all by yourself?” asked Loki, the Norse goddess, greeting the newcomer at the doorstep of her Familia’s headquarters nonchalantly.
The human boy simply smiled calmly and replied, “I am homeless.”
His response, though about a not-so-glorious circumstance, was delivered with an unshakable calmness. Despite having sealed her divine powers, Loki was still a god with eons of experience, capable of seeing through the pretenses of mortals.
“Do you want me to take you in?” Loki’s face wore an ever-growing mischievous grin.
“Yes,” the boy answered frankly.
“Alright then!” Loki agreed without hesitation, her laughter bubbling with delight. “From today on, you’re one of my children.”
Was this a whimsical decision by the goddess, or was there a deeper significance to it? No one could tell for sure. What was certain, however, was that Riegel had successfully joined Loki Familia, all within just a few brief exchanges.
