Moon Blossom Asura - Chapter 1: My First Kill at 13? No, It Was Long Before That.

An infantry battalion was moving along a straight road in the forest.

They were our target for this mission. They carried spears in their right hand and shields in their left. Swords were on their waists. These are the standard equipment for infantry units.

Asura was hiding behind a tree and counting their numbers. They were split into 3 companies about 30 men in total.

This was the first job for Asura’s mercenary group, so they wanted to start off with a bang!

Thinking about the battle that was about to start Asura was excited.

One of the soldiers in the back that wasn’t affected shouted. “Enemies! Engage! It’s the enemy!”

Too late, Asura thought with a laugh. Asura scattered 7 pink petals while she was still airborne before landing on the other side of the road. Thanks to the wind magic her leaping ability was greatly enhanced. This type of magic can only be used on a single target, so it is considered less effective than training infantrymen physically. 

As soon as the flower petals touched the enemy soldiers, they blew up. The explosion is barely powerful enough to blow their heads off, but that is enough. After all, people can’t live without their heads.

Next, the battalion commander the only one on horseback started to choke. one of Asura’s companions, a large man named Marx created a water bubble on the commander’s head. Water magic is mainly used to heal wounds, treat poison and generate clean drinking water. It is practically useless when it comes to fighting. Splashing an enemy with water won’t stop them but suffocating them with it definitely will. 

“Ha ha! Your commander just died! well? You still wanna fight!?” Asura shouted that with a smile on her face. If she could have her way, she wanted them all to try and fight, she wanted to annihilate them all, but in this world and in her previous world soldiers usually surrender after their commander dies. While thinking this one of the soldiers ran up to her. He must have dropped his spear, as he was holding his sword.

“A suicide rush with zero support, you’re an idiot but hey that’s what makes war fun,” Asura said this while holding a dagger in her right hand and using the left to instruct Lumia to go back into the forest.

Lumia immediately moved. At the same time that Asura ducked under the man’s slash, she moved behind him and kicked the back of his knee as hard as she could and the soldier fell, then she wrapped her hands around him from behind.

“Oh my. A neck that was placed right in front of me?” She slid her dagger across his throat “Did you think we’re just some normal mages? Too bad, we are magic soldiers. We’re trained in close-quarters combat as well”  

After confirming that the soldier was dead, she swung her dagger to wipe away the blood and went back into the forest.

Asura’s expression softened and she smiled again. Finally a real war. Her heart was racing and she couldn’t stop smiling. Thirteen soldiers died in this attack. What a fantastic start.

Now, let’s scatter some petals. Asura’s petals can be used as landmines as well.

“Retreat! Retreat! Don’t chase them into the forest! Form a defensive line!” A man was shouting orders likely the vice commander. Asura thought it was a wise decision. The surviving soldiers took a defensive position. Now they are at a disadvantage. Even if they shot magic at them from behind the trees the soldiers can easily deflect it using their shields. 

Besides, the essence of a magic soldier’s fighting style is rapid-fire assault. After that, the enemy would just bring the battle to an area with cover to hide behind. However, Asura’s group was prepared for this as well.

“We’re moving to Plan B! Wait for my signal!” Asura shouted this as loud as she could so that her allies on the other side of the road could hear her. She was having fun, so she wanted to go all the way.

“Asura.” With a dissatisfied tone, her vice commander Lumia called out to her. Her voice was as husky and sexy as ever.

Of course, as one of my subordinates, you’ll kill them as well. We will thoroughly and wholeheartedly teach them the meaning of the words ‘Hell’ and ‘Despair’.” 

Asura looked straight into Lumia’s brown eyes. Eventually, Lumia let out a sigh.

“…I understand. If you’re giving them the chance to surrender then you’re not crossing the line.” After saying this Lumia agreed.

“Well then wait for the signal,” Asura said. It will be a wonderful signal, a beautiful heart-pounding signal to resume the battle.

Asura left the forest on her own. The soldiers were about to relax their defensive formation because they assumed that Asura’s group had fled.

“Defensive position!!” The enemy vice commander shouted as soon as he saw Asura. The soldiers reformed their defensive stance immediately.

“Oh my. Don’t you think that’s a bit too cowardly when your opponent is just a cute little girl?” Fulfilling her promise she had a bright and cheerful smile on her face. All she had to do now was to explain the difference in their abilities and recommend surrender, and with that, her promise with Lumia would be fulfilled.

“That silver hair and black robe! It was you who ambushed us earlier! Who the hell are you? Rather than mages you move like assassins, who do you work for?!”

“My name is Asura Lyona. The leader of the mercenary group ‘Moon Blossom.’ Remember this. We are neither mages nor assassins we are…”

“…Leader? You?” The enemy soldiers murmured among themselves.

I was in the middle of my speech. Asura thought to herself. She was planning to loudly say “We’re soldier mages.”

“Shut up and let me finish. Okay? We’re incredibly strong. Even if heaven and earth were to fall, you cannot beat my ‘Moon Blossom.’ This will be a one-sided massacre. Asura couldn’t help but laugh. Seeing her smile, the enemy soldiers faces stiffened. She isn’t aware of it but Asura Smile is terrifying to look at. 

“Well then let’s continue this reverie battle. A battle centred on the romance that is magic.” Saying this Asura raised her right hand and snapped her fingers. Instantly, Ina, using her wind magic spell [hovercraft] jumped out of the forest.

She quite literally, flew out. While she was above the enemy soldiers’ heads she emptied the contents of the bottles she was holding in both hands. And by the time she landed in the forest on the other side of the road, the enemy soldiers burst into flames. Yuruki used his Fire magic spell [Fireball]. 

“Oh, I guess for you guys this is a nightmare, not a dream,” Asura said. The bottles Ina was holding were filled with oil. If magic power is weak all you have to do is amplify it. The enemy soldiers writhed in pain and screamed in agony and soon one by one they stopped moving.    

“That’s what you get for standing together in a defensive formation,” Asura said mocking them. 

“Shut up you little bitch!” One of the soldiers who was lucky enough to not get splashed with oil said this while running toward Asura.

“Oh, watch out, there’s a…” Before she could finish the enemy soldier’s foot exploded. “GAAAAHHHH!!” After his right leg disappeared he started rolling on the ground in agony. 

“What did I just say…?” The soldier who was rolling on the ground tripped another mine and it blew as well. A splatter of blood landed on Asura’s cheek. “My [Land mines] are all over this place, if you’re not careful they’ll blow up in your face, you know?” When Asura snapped her fingers earlier she activated her flower magic [Mine] for a second time. it spread seven small petals in front of her. If you don’t pay attention, you’ll never notice them.

“Now, Lumia! Marx! Time for clean up! Leave one alive! I’ll let you two choose the lucky guy!” At Asura’s command, Lumia and Marx came out of the forest and started slashing the throats of the survivors with their daggers. Lumia and Marx both are the most skilled fighters in hand-to-hand combat in ‘Moon Blossom.’ However, both of them are gentle to a fault. Lumia killed them with graceful movements while Marx was more forceful with his movements. Before she knew it Lumia and Marx annihilated almost all of them in a blink of an eye. Well, one person survived so it’s not like a complete massacre. In any case, the battle was over. Too bad. Asura thought.

 “Well then.” Asura walked up to the surviving soldier and smiled. It was a normal smile. A cute smile, appropriate for a girl her age. But the enemy soldier was terrified by that smile.

“There’s a very good reason for keeping you alive. You know. Now listen closely.” Asura crouched down to his eye level. Looking closely, she saw that the enemy soldier was still young, around 17 years old maybe. I see so they let the youngest one live.

“We are the mercenary group ‘Moon Blossom.’ You got that name? The one that annihilated your battalion was the mercenary group Moon Blossom. I recommend you hire us the next time you go to war. It’s like they say today’s enemy, is tomorrow’s employer.”
