- Chapter 7: What Would I Do If I Picked Up The Freedom Coin? Throw it away of Course As I Run Around In Hell Once More
“It seems like you’re underestimating me,” Uno said while shaking his head. The sight of him looked so funny that Asura and all the members of Moon Blossom burst out laughing.
“Wh-what’s so funny!? I’ll kill you!” When Uno shouted this, the three thugs drew their swords, and the military police did the same.
“My, oh my. This is hilarious,” Asura said. “It’s quite the opposite, you’re the ones who’re underestimating Moon Blossom. The one Dora, pick it up. Just so we’re clear if you don’t pick it up, we’re going to kill you all.”
“Cut the shit! The second you lay your hands on us a whole swarm of military police will rush in and… Huh.” Before he could finish A dagger was thrust into the foreheads of the military policemen, and they fell to the floor with a thud.
“You were saying something about military police?” Asura said with a giggle. Yuruki, Ina and Marx were the first to act. Taking out the military policemen before they could use their whistles to call for backup. All three understood what needed to be done without needing Asura to say anything.
“Wow…” Reko muttered.
“Moon Blossom has no place for idiots who’d miss from this distance. Don’t worry Reko, you’ll be able to do it soon. Well, I’ll make you practice until you can do it,” Asura said.
“…Th-they were real military police,” Uno said with a stiff expression.
“Your threats may have worked on others, but it won’t work on us. We will solve every problem by force. If the military police try to arrest us, we’ll crush them. If the Kingdom’s army targets us, we’ll exterminate them. If the King orders us to be killed, we will cut off his head. We are not a bunch of thugs like you. We are a genuine fighting force, and that’s the type of violence we can bring.” When Asura said this, the room fell silent.
“I-I’m out of here!” One of the thugs dropped his sword and ran toward the entrance. However. A dagger was stuck to his leg before he could get out.
“Where are you going?” Lumia said. “Did you not hear what the boss said? She said if you don’t pick up the one Dora coin, we’ll kill you all.” Lumia stayed seated in her chair, showing no signs of getting up. For Lumia, these people’s level wasn’t even enough to make her stand.
“Pick it up, Uno-san,” Lumia said with a smile. “You value your life the most don’t you? I’m angry, I’m really angry at the heinous acts you and your men have done. But I’d rather not have to kill you.”
“I will! I’ll pick it up!” Uno reached for the 1 Dora coin on the floor. But, before he could do it Salume picked it up first. Uno was confused by her actions.
“I won’t let you pick it up… Die,” Salume said determination in her eyes. She is absolutely determined to let Uno die here for what she has gone through.
“Well done, Salume!” Asura said rejoicing. “Excellent! Give me back that one Dora and you’ll be a free woman.”
“D-d-d-don’t mess with me you brat! Give it to me!” Uno reached out with his hand, but Salume dodged it and ran towards Asura.
“Well, gentlemen, looks like the party has come to an end. The heroine is now ours. Now it’s time for the villains to exit the stage.” Asura said theatrically.
“I didn’t know you liked acting,” Lumia said.
“… These guys are bad, but we… Are even worse…” Ina said.
“That’s true. A small fry villain picked a fight with monsters, of course, it ended this way.” Yuruki agreed.
“Well… I suppose everyone aside from myself and the vice-commander really are monsters.” Marx said.
“We get it, just hurry up and get it done,” Asura said.

In the end, each person got one kill. Lumia, Ina and Yuruki each threw daggers to kill the three thugs. Uno was sent to the afterlife by Marx’s Water Prison. He wanted to show Salume the sight of Uno struggling in pain.
“Now then, Salume. Give me back that 1 Dora and you’ll be a free woman.” Asura stretched out her palm asking for the coin.
“I… I don’t want to.”
“Why?” Asura said tilting her head.
“Please let me join you!” Salume said bowing her head deeply.
“Hey, now…” Asura said with a bitter smile. “I was planning on it, but you have your freedom now. And yet you’re going to throw it away? Did they hit you hard enough that you went crazy?” Salume looked up with a clear expression. She’s serious about this. Asura thought.
“I want to become strong. So that no one can do… This… To me…” Salume was on the verge of tears as she said the last part.
“It’s okay. You don’t have to talk. I know what you’ve been through. So you don’t have to tell me.” Asura let out a sigh before continuing. “But. And this is a big ‘but’, we are a group of murderers, and there’s no happy ending for any of us. We will either be cut down to shreds, die writhing in agony, or die a vicious death. Either way, the only end for us is a dead end. Do you understand?”
“Even so!” Salume screamed. “Even so, I want to be strong!”
“Very well. In that case, I will train you into the strongest magic soldier. As of right now, you are Salume a member of Moon Blossom. Welcome to hell, Salume.”
“Here, put this on.” Yuruki took off his coat and put it on Salume, who was still completely naked.
“Th-thank you very much…”
“Don’t worry about it. You’re already one of us.” Yuruki said with a smile. Then, he slowly walked towards the kitchen. “So, which one of you told that fatso about us? Was it you old man or was it you, waiter boy?”
“P-please spare me…” The waiter said with a terrified expression.
“So it was you. What should I do boss? Back in my gang, we would kill this guy, but we’re mercenaries, so I’d like some orders pleeeease.”
“Yuruki, you figured it out on your own. I’m impressed.” Asura said while covering her mouth with her right hand in surprise.
“Yeah, no. Anyone could’ve figured that one out!? Just how stupid do you think I am!?” Yuruki replied.
“…I figured it out too. Are you proud of me…?” Ina asked.
“Anyone could’ve figured it out with that timing,” Marx said. “The thugs or the military police were probably waiting at the backing listing in on us.”
“Most likely,” Lumia said with a shrug. Everyone except Reko made the same guess as Asura. Asura was a little happy about that. It will save her the trouble of explaining.
“For now, let them clean up the bodies. Oh but, don’t tell anyone what happened here. We’ll spare your lives. But we’ll never use your bar ever again.” Asura said.
“Okaaaay. Is it alright if I join the clean-up? That fatso had a lot of gems on him, so I thought I’d take some.” Yuruki asked.
“Suit yourself,” Asura replied with a shrug and Yuruki made a small fist pump.
“…I want gems too…” Ina said.
“Reko come help us out. I’ll let you get some pocket change.” When Yuruki said that, Reko looked at Asura. Asura waved her right hand silently telling him to do whatever he wanted. Reko understood the gesture and went to help Yuruki and Ina.
“Well then, we’ll be going back to the inn first. Lumia, once we get there, give Salume so healing with your magic.” Asura said.
“Oh? What about your left arm?”
“It’s fine, I can just have you do it tomorrow.”
Lumia’s healing magic takes a long time, it is impossible to heal two people in one night. “Hee hee, how sweet of you,” Lumia said in a bright mood.
“Shut up. Come on, Salume, Marx, let’s go.” Asura got up from her chair and headed for the entrance.
“I’ll join them in cleaning up,” Marx said. “I’m worried that they might not be able to handle it.”
“Hmm. I understand. Make sure you cover your tracks. I’m counting on you.”
“Roger.”
***
Warm. That was Salume’s thought about Lumia’s healing magic. It’s so warm and my body feels very comfortable.
They were in Asura’s room. Each member of Moon Blossom had their own separate room. But of course, Salume didn’t have a room so she was staying in Asura’s room for tonight.
“Now,” Asura took off her robe. “How about we have a little chat?” Asura said while neatly folding the robe she took off and placed it on top of a dresser. She was wearing a white blouse and brown pants underneath. She looked like a normal village girl. However, her belt looked strange there were several leather sheaths attached to it to hold daggers. Some of the daggers were missing, which meant they’d been used.
“Ah, yes.” Salume was still only wearing Yuruki’s robe.
“I’m going to teach you and Reko about a lot of things from now on.” Asura sat on a chair. Salume and Lumia were sitting on the bed. It wasn’t a fancy bed, but it was better than the ones they used in the brothel. The room wasn’t fancy either on the contrary it was quite ordinary. Still, it was better than the shared house Salume lived in with the other prostitutes. That house was old and full of mould. Just the thought of not having to go back there made Salume feel a little happy.
“First, I need to see how well both of you can obey orders. Then we’ll work on physical training to make you a little stronger. After that, we’ll work on magic and combat techniques. Also, this time I’ll add school study as well. Then, once I think you’re ready, you’ll move on to basic training to become magic soldiers. Understand so far?” Asura asked and Salume nodded. “It takes time to learn magic, so it will be at least a year before you reach combat level with it, and even then it will just be a supporting role.”
“I don’t know much about magic.”
“I see, Let me give you a brief explanation. Magic is the magical power within your body… I call it MP.”
“Emm Pee?”
“It’s an abbreviation for ‘magic power’. First, you have to materialize your MP, then change its attribute, and then change its properties only then does it become magic. So the first step you have to work on is materializing your MP.”
“What that means is you need to recognise that you have MP inside you and bring it outside your body,” Lumia added cooly.
“After that, you need to add an attribute to change your MP. Each person has only one attribute, and you won’t know what attribute it is until you actually manage to let out your MP.”
“Your attribute won’t change for the rest of your life, except if you gain a unique attribute,” Lumia said. “Once you gain a unique attribute you can call yourself a grand mage.”
“We don’t have to call ourselves that. We are magic soldiers. We’re soldiers who fight with magic as one of our weapons, we’re not some simple mages. Do you understand everything so far?”
“Yes.” She understood what she was told. However, Salume thought that if she was asked to do it right this moment, she would definitely not be able to do it.
“The last step is to change its property. There are only four properties of magic. Attack, support, recovery, creation. You would choose one of these properties and change your magic to align with them. Once get used to the process, you can even use two different properties on the same spell.”
“Pretend you didn’t hear that last part, since it’s impossible for a beginner to do that,” Lumia said.
“Well, you’ll need a few years to get used to it,” Asura admitted. “First you’d need a few years to learn magic. Then it’ll take another few years to obtain a unique attribute. And a few years more to be able to use 2 different properties on a single spell.”
“That’s one of the reasons why there’s very few mages. Also, there is no particular order as to which comes first, getting a unique attribute or the ability to use two at the same time. It is up to the one who…” Lumia stopped mid-sentence and looked toward the door. Asura also slowly rose from her chair and drew the dagger from her belt.
Salume couldn’t figure out why the two of them did those things. So she was a little confused. Then there was a knock on the door.
“Asura Lyona. I would like to talk to you in private.” I see. Salume thought. They sensed a presence heading for the door. Salume thought that was amazing and wondered if she could do that too someday.
“Oh, you’ve got to be kidding me.” Asura put away her dagger and smiled bitterly. She then opened the door. Standing there was a young man in his twenties. He was wearing ordinary clothes, but for some reason, he had a regal air about him.
“Did you come here alone?”
“Yes, I did. This is a confidential matter. I don’t have any escorts. I’m used to it since I go into town like this from time to time.”
“Ah, Well, come on in, King Arnia. Just so long as this isn’t your attempt at a booty call.”
