My Longevity Simulation - Chapter 1 - Where Do Immortals Come From?
Great Xuan Kingdom, Xuan City, Imperial Tutor House.
Li Fan held a wine cup, looking at the civil and military officials who had come to congratulate him on his birthday. Although he was already in his old age, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride.
You should know that today, in the Grand Minister’s Mansion, almost all the court officials were present. What an imposing scene it was!
Thinking of how Li Fan was just a poor scholar when he crossed over to this world, it was a journey of going from rags to riches.
In the past fifty years, from having nothing to becoming the Grand Minister, wielding power across the realm, all of this could be written into a novel of millions of words.
Life was such, what else could he ask for?
Li Fan stroked his beard and emptied his cup of fine wine.
“To the Grand Minister’s longevity!”
The officials present echoed in unison.
Li Fan’s sense of satisfaction grew stronger.
Just at that moment, there suddenly came discordant exclamations from outside.
“Look! What is that?”
“A heavenly fire is descending, an auspicious sign! Quickly, inform the Grand Minister!”
“Why does it seem like it’s flying towards our Grand Minister’s Mansion?”
…
Hearing the commotion outside, Li Fan furrowed his brows.
The once lively hall suddenly fell silent.
Li Fan got up and walked out first.
However, before he could scold the servants or express his dissatisfaction, he was captivated by the scene in the sky.
In the distance, two silver rays of light, one ahead of the other, streaked across the sky like meteors, speeding towards them.
“What is this…” Li Fan was stunned.
In the blink of an eye, the two meteors arrived above the city of Xuanjing, and suddenly came to a halt.
At the same time, a voice thundered down from the sky, resonating in everyone’s ears.
“Dao Xuanzi! Do not underestimate people too much!”
…
The people present were bewildered by the unexpected turn of events. Some even called out “immortal teacher” and prostrated themselves on the ground.
A term that had been buried deep in Li Fan’s memory and almost forgotten suddenly sprung into his mind.
“Cultivators…” Li Fan was shocked and muttered to himself, “How is this possible…”
The two cultivators in the sky clearly paid no attention to the thoughts of mortals below.
Another voice resounded, “Kou Hong! Do you think you can escape to this realm of immortals and I will spare you? Hand over the technique you obtained that day, or I will not rest until you’re dead!”
“Ridiculous! It’s because I lacked the foundation of Core Formation that I was trapped at Foundation Establishment for nearly a hundred years, on the brink of death, about to turn into bones. But then I acquired this Core Formation technique. How could I possibly give it to someone else?” Kou Hong snorted disdainfully, his tone filled with contempt.
“Indeed!” Dao Xuanzi sighed, “The path of Golden Core is unique. Although there are many Core Formation techniques in the world, they are still limited by the Foundation Establishment stage!”
Dao Xuanzi’s tone suddenly turned fierce, “Since that’s the case, with the path of Longevity before us, how could I possibly spare you? How could I not be ruthless!”
Kou Hong laughed heartily, “It’s just a struggle for survival! It’s laughable that you and I were brothers for a hundred years, but now we draw our swords against each other for a chance at life!”
Dao Xuanzi responded with a cold smirk.
Suddenly, Kou Hong said, “I know I’m not your match. Today, it’s probably hard to escape calamity. But with so many mortals here, I wonder, can you withstand the intensity of this mortal miasma?”
Dao Xuanzi’s expression rapidly changed, “Kou Hong! What are you planning?”
Kou Hong laughed maniacally, “I’m just seeking a slim chance of survival!”
Listening to the conversation of the two cultivators above, Li Fan’s heart sank. However, before he could react, a burst of crimson flame exploded above the city.
“Boom! Boom! Boom!”
Loud explosions continuously rang in Li Fan’s ears, and his vision was suddenly bathed in blood-red. In just a moment, he lost consciousness.
…
After an unknown period of time, Li Fan finally woke up.
At first, he was confused. After a while, he remembered what had happened before.
Li Fan coughed and spat out a few mouthfuls of blood. Shaking, he got up and looked around.
It was still night, but the once opulent Grand Minister’s Mansion had turned into ruins.
The air was filled with the unpleasant smell of charred bodies.
The civil and military officials who had gathered earlier were now all dead, their souls sent to the afterlife.
Li Fan’s expression was devoid of emotion. His eyes seemed vacant.
He stood still for a long time before finally dragging his weakened body and walking out of the Grand Minister’s Mansion.
The bustling and lively city of Xuanjing that had existed just moments ago had now become a hell of blood and fire. Everywhere he looked, there were broken bodies and collapsed buildings.
Presumably, among the survivors of this disaster, hardly anyone remained.
All of this was because of the sudden appearance of the “immortal teachers,” the two cultivators.
Li Fan felt exhausted, but he managed to find some paper and a pen. Communicating was somewhat cumbersome, but it didn’t hinder him from conveying his orders one by one.
First, Li Fan ordered the garrison stationed outside the city to rush to Xuanjing to maintain order after the disaster. Then he sent orders to the surrounding cities, calling for supplies and officials to be sent to Xuanjing.
Most of the buildings in Xuanjing had been destroyed, and after the garrison took over, Li Fan decided to stay in the military camp and oversee the aftermath.
With Li Fan’s commands, supplies and talents from the surrounding cities flowed continuously into Xuanjing.
It took a month for the devastated city of Xuanjing to start showing signs of recovery.
After the Great Xuan Kingdom finally recovered from the blow dealt by the cultivators, Li Fan began to order investigations into the two immortal teachers who had appeared that night.
This included where the two initially came from, where they went afterwards, and any other conversations they might have had.
Unfortunately, aside from knowing that the two cultivators seemed to have come from the direction of Xuyuan, the east, the investigation yielded no further results.
The situation that Li Fan had hoped for, where the two immortals would fight till mutual destruction, did not occur.
“I shouldn’t have expected this kind of thing in the first place,” Li Fan sighed inwardly. “As it is, I have nothing left to hold on to in this world.”
Standing in the newly built Prime Minister’s Mansion, Li Fan once again initiated 【Returning to Reality】.
“Do you want to virtualize the current scene and return to the initial anchor point?”
Li Fan no longer hesitated and chose yes.
On the light screen, countless lifelike scenes froze simultaneously. Then, the power plays, the riches and honors of this life shattered like a soap bubble, turning into streaks of shooting stars that flew into Li Fan’s mind.
Scenes flashed quickly before Li Fan’s eyes like a revolving lantern, finally freezing on the image of the two cultivators towering high above the Prime Minister’s Mansion.
“Dao Xuanzi, Kou Hong.” Li Fan softly spoke their names. “Fifty years later, I’ll still be waiting for you in Xuanjing City.”
“Wealth and honor are but passing clouds to me.” Li Fan’s consciousness gradually became blurry, but his determination and goal became more resolute than ever.
“In the next life, I will capture immortals!”
The brilliance in his mind gradually faded, and Li Fan slowly fell into a deep sleep.
