Reincarnated in a Woman's World but My Sister is the Hero? - Chapter 14: Jail Break
Samantha sat on her official chair, holding a phone to her ear.
There was a short ring before the other side picked up.
“Samantha, I hope there’s a good reason you’re calling me while I’m having tea.”
“It’s a good reason, Major General Brienne.”
She sighed a little.
“Alright, so what is it.”
“Mia has apparently found a boy who can use sword forms?”
There was a moment of silence.
“That can’t be possible. Did you see it with your own eyes?”
“I didn’t see it first hand. But footage from the experiment room is quite convincing.”
“What were the circumstances for it?”
“Mia was fighting him, then he somehow managed to use it.”
“That still doesn’t make any sense. Who was this boy?”
“From the records, he was only admitted into Complex II a day ago. There’s no information on him apart from the fact that he doesn’t seem to be registered into the main system.”
“He’s not registered? Not even a tag number on the Census of Men?”
“That’s right. My guess is that he was recently brought to the city from elsewhere and whoever did so didn’t tell anyone.”
…
Brienne mumbled.
“Recently into the city… a few days ago… unregistered… this might have something to do with Seia’s recent duty. I will question her tonight about this.”
“That’s fine. Just go easy on her, alright?”
“Don’t worry, I’m very easy on her~”
With that, the phone called ended.

[Looks like you’re struggling]
“I’m not really.”
[Don’t lie to me. I know your deepest feelings. I know about your danger sense]
“What are you trying to say.”
[I’ve got another deal for you. It’s quite simple]
…
[Break out of this complex, and I’ll give you a small hint to the truth of everything]
“I don’t have any attachment to that.”
[Ah, that’s not okay. Don’t you want to know what you’ve given up? Everything, including the last time you were reincarnated?]
“Are you implying that it’s happened more than once.”
[Of course. You know, you’ve given up way more than you could possibly imagine. It’s something that scares even me]
“I know I’ve made one deal with you before and gave up some memories of some sort.”
[That’s just the latest one. I’m sure you have no recollection of every other thing you’ve given to me]
[Lake, you’re someone who never forgets anything. Are you not curious to the reason why you have no recollection of them]
“I suppose, but what’s this small hint you’re giving me then.”
[Nothing much, just a message from you to you]
“A message fr—”
…
Suddenly, the voice in his subconscious disappeared. Standing with an annoyed expression, Mia was still looking at him.
—maybe I should do this. It might be interesting.
“Are you done talking to yourself? So annoying.”
“Sorry. What did you want me to do?”
“I’m sending you back to the detention centre. I’ll be back tomorrow to do some more experiments. I’m too tired for this.”

Walking past the male cells, it seemed that everyone had been locked up in them for curfew of some sort. One of the guards led Lake to his, before opening the door and kicking him inside.
“You’re already late. Now get to sleep.”
The door slammed shut, locked by the guard.
The other men in his room were already asleep. It seemed that they had dropped off their belongings on Lake’s bed again, using it like the storage space they were before. Uninterested, he ignored the disrespect and looked around the cell.
Whilst he could break down the door and sprint toward the exit, alerting Mia Hurtig would result in serious repercussions. He was still not strong enough to defeat her in a fight, so she could easily stop him in his tracks.
Looking outside side of the cell, it seemed to be the most obvious escape path. But even if he could remove the lock silently, it would be difficult to escape the male section of the complex.
The other option was the vent above.
However, Lake had only seen a small portion of the outer half of the complex, meaning he’d have to deduce his way through the rooms and find a way out without needing to cause any major destruction.
Regardless, it was the path that had the highest chance of escape.
Drawing his [Fallen Knight’s Rapier], he gently cut off the nails holding the vent in place. With a slight thump, he caught the falling vent in his arms and kept it. Placing his sword back in its sheath, he jumped up and gripped the sides of the hole.
Pulling himself up, he was met with the dark insides of the ventilation system.
He gently placed the vent back in its original position, manoeuvring it slightly so it wouldn’t fall. Using deductions from the view outside of the complex and the short walk he had through it before, he decided to travel to the right, closer to the outer wall that he had come from.
Keeping the sound to a minimum, he began crawling through.
…
There was some talking from below the vents.
“…you’re fine for night duty, right?”
“…yes, feel free to get some sleep now.”
“…alright—”
Lake continued to make his way through. There were several vent openings as he crawled through but the drop point was quite important in increasing the chance of success. As he made his way through the ventilation system, he noted the positions of each guard in his mind—slowly, he crafted a mental image of the complex.
Eventually, he managed to understand the layout of the area enough to decide the best vent to drop down from.
Making his way back through the ventilation system, he located an exit near the north edge of the complex.
“I guess this is as good as it’ll get.”
