## Chapter 7: Heading to the Matchmaking Gathering
“Your Highness…” Qing Jue sighed, looking at her with concern. “Do you know why the Heavenly Emperor wants to choose a companion for you?”
“Yes.” Isn’t it just to make her have a child quickly?
“The Abyss of Demons has been a problem for the six realms for thousands of years. If the seal is broken, the six realms will be destroyed. However, someone with your bloodline can solve all of this. This means that he will save the six realms, which is a great act of salvation!” Qing Jue said seriously.
“Now the entire six realms know about the heavenly decree, proclaiming you as the mother of the savior, but it doesn’t say who the father is. This means that whoever becomes your companion will be the father of the savior. This enormous merit of saving the world naturally includes him.” Who wouldn’t want to gain such great merit for free?
This is also why, since Her Highness was summoned not long ago, not many people have received the news yet. Once it spreads, there will only be more people coming to seek an audience. The loose immortals and earth immortals who have come these past few days are just trying to leave a good impression on her before the Emperor officially begins the selection process.
Jiang Ran: “…”
Is there such a setting?
Apparently, she is now considered a piece of unclaimed meat by the six realms!
She suddenly found it absurd. Things can’t go on like this. Although meeting people isn’t a big deal, they are all immortals. Immortals don’t have a distinction between day and night. No matter how patient she is, she can’t endure people seeking her out day and night.
Thinking about it, Jiang Ran decided to have Qing Jue pack up the gifts left by those immortals and send them directly to the Heavenly Emperor, quietly lodging a complaint. After all, their behavior of coming to see her privately is, in a way, challenging the authority of the Heavenly Emperor.
She guessed right. Indeed, the next day, there were no more immortals dressed in extravagant clothes finding various excuses to run into her outside the Floating Cloud Hall. But she didn’t expect that sending those gifts would bring another trouble.
“The Qionghua Immortal Gathering?” Jiang Ran was stunned, almost dropping the thermos cup in her hand.
“Yes, it’s today. We have to hurry and prepare.” Qing Jue hurriedly pulled her to the bronze mirror, her fingers flying as she braided her hair into a complex hairstyle. “The Emperor took your feelings into consideration and specially moved the date forward.”
“Moved it forward?” She was confused. “Why?”
“Of course, to introduce you to all the immortals earlier!” The immortals attending the gathering are at least Golden Immortals. With this comparison, the Earth Immortals and loose immortals won’t dare to bother her anymore. Her Highness is the future mother of the savior and deserves the best.
While dressing her up, Qing Jue continued, “The Qionghua Immortal Gathering is held once every hundred years in the immortal realm. All the young talents from the immortal realm will attend, and you are the most important guest. Don’t worry, I’ll dress you up perfectly, and you’ll surely outshine everyone.” Saying this, she picked up various hair ornaments and piled them onto Jiang Ran’s head.
Jiang Ran was stunned for a moment before realizing that this so-called Qionghua Immortal Gathering was a large matchmaking party arranged by the Heavenly Emperor for her. She recalled that the Heavenly Emperor did say a few days ago that he would introduce the great young talents of the six realms to her, but she didn’t expect it to happen so soon.
Could it be that because of her complaint, the Heavenly Emperor thought she was dissatisfied with those little immortals and moved up the gathering?
—
Damn it!
Jiang Ran felt at a loss for words. Qing Jue had already dressed her up several times, looking even more excited than her. After fussing over her for two hours, Qing Jue was finally satisfied and put away the tools, bringing out an immortal dress.
“Alright, Your Highness is indeed a natural beauty.” She said, shaking out the dress. “Now, just change into this immortal dress, and you’ll surely enchant all the immortals.”
Jiang Ran then looked at herself in the mirror. Her face had indeed transformed. Originally only considered pretty, under Qing Jue’s meticulous makeup, her features were highlighted, flaws covered, giving her an almost stunning appearance.
However, this is the immortal realm. Such beauty might be rare in the mortal world but is only average in the immortal realm. Qing Jue’s biased perspective was clear. But the amount of hair ornaments on her head seemed excessive.
At first, she didn’t mind, but when she tried to stand up, her head was so heavy she nearly hit the table. Qing Jue had to help her up, allowing her to barely support the weight of the dozens of pounds on her head.
“These hairpins…” She instinctively wanted to remove some to lighten the load.
“Don’t touch!” Qing Jue grabbed her hand, resolutely refusing, “Your Highness, these were specially sent by the Emperor. Each one is infused with spiritual power. Though they are ornaments, they are also immortal artifacts! This shows the Emperor’s regard for you. You must let the immortals see them to understand your noble status.”
“…” Never mind nobility, it’s really heavy!
Seeing Qing Jue’s determined face, fearing she’d cry if even one piece was removed, worried she’d be belittled due to her mortal origins, Jiang Ran had no choice but to endure it. Well, it’s just a bit of weightlifting. It won’t take long. She couldn’t dampen Qing Jue’s enthusiasm.
After much difficulty, they finally finished dressing and left the Floating Cloud Hall. Unlike their previous trip to the Shangqing Hall by cloud, there was now a luxurious chariot waiting outside.
In front of the chariot was a giant bird, its feathers smooth and green, with a long tail, and two heads. Seeing them, both heads turned simultaneously, indicating they should get on.
“A double-headed green luan!” Qing Jue’s eyes lit up with excitement. “This is the Emperor’s mount, sent specifically to fetch Your Highness.”
They boarded the chariot, and Jiang Ran couldn’t help but curiously observe the bird. This must be an immortal beast. Once rare in the six realms, now it was pulling a chariot. She thought it might be nice to own one someday.
The green luan flew steadily and swiftly. In no time, they arrived at an immortal island. The island had no immortal palace but was surrounded by layers of auspicious light, filled with blossoming peach trees and various flowers, making a carpet of blooms. In the distance, they could hear lively sounds, indicating the gathering’s location.
As soon as they stepped out, the surrounding mist parted, revealing a platform crowded with immortals, some chatting loudly, others drinking merrily.
As she took her first step, a loud announcement echoed.
“Princess Feng Tian has arrived!”
The crowd fell silent instantly, all eyes turning to her with curiosity, examination, and anticipation.
Jiang Ran, who had intended to slip in quietly, froze, smiling habitually.
The next moment, the immortals seemed to react, bowing to her in unison, their voices echoing throughout the gathering.
“Greetings, Princess Feng Tian!”
“…”
This was even more awkward. What should she say, comrades, hello?
