Sent to Another World! - Chapter 24
After Yoshinobu’s escape, Julius found himself in a dire situation.
Word had spread about a medicine that could cure the lung disease, and many nobles from neighboring countries, even royalty, were seeking it.
Unable to refuse, Julius demanded submission from the nobles who had already received the medicine from Yoshinobu. However, as Yoshinobu had explained that the medicine would only work if consumed completely, they were reluctant to let it go.
Despite offering substantial rewards, only a few relinquished the medicine. The overwhelming number of people seeking it made it difficult to manage.
“Is the medicine still not ready?”
Julius summoned Dauer, the director of the Potion Research Institute.
“We still haven’t figured out exactly how it was made.”
In this world, the existence of bacteria had not yet been confirmed, let alone the idea of an effective remedy.
“Are you all more foolish than commoners? I’m not asking you to make it from scratch. I’m telling you to replicate the exact same thing you have in front of you. Hurry and figure it out!”
“Yes, we will do our best…”
Dauer was overwhelmed by despair.
Even though they were told to replicate the same thing, they couldn’t fathom how to transform the white powder that appeared to be merely compressed material into something effective…
“Your Majesty, we have some information about that individual.”
Minister of Military Affairs, Alme arrived to report.
“Oh, and where is he?”
“We haven’t pinpointed his exact location, but there have been reports of an unfamiliar object flying toward the Kingdom of Maldorado. We request permission to extradite him or infiltrate with our forces.”
“Come to think of it, the parent of Viscount Moss’s wife was involved in a trading company in Raad… Hold off on sending troops. We’ll send a letter to the Kingdom of Maldorado. He’s just a commoner, so they might hand him over.”
Julius decided to send an emissary.
With hope in his heart, he believed this could finally lead to a resolution…
Meanwhile, at Alex’s location, there were those who came seeking medicine after giving their medicine to the king.
“That medicine can only be made by Yoshinobu. There’s nothing I can do, even if you come here. More importantly, you were probably told by Yoshinobu to consume the medicine completely. Why did you give it away?”
Believing that many of those who received the medicine were already feeling better, they had thought it was safe. They had given away the medicine to gain favor with the king, or sold it to gain money.
“Nevertheless, my daughter is still suffering. Can’t you do something?”
“You were probably told by Yoshinobu that it won’t work unless consumed completely. Even if there is medicine here, there’s no guarantee it will cure her, right?”
“But…”
“Enough! Giving away the medicine was a result of your disregard for the promise with Yoshinobu. Your daughter’s suffering is as good as caused by you! There’s nothing I can do!”
Alex turned all the visitors away.
Furthermore, the information that the medicine wouldn’t work unless taken in the correct amount has been known to the individuals from other countries seeking the medicine.
Not only that, news about Marquis Cactus family’s action that caused the doctor, who could formulate and examine the medicine, to left the country has been spread.
Because of that, many people know that the medicine they got might not be the right amount.
As a result, more inquiries began pouring in to King Julius.
“King Julius, is the amount of medicine I received correct?”
The one addressing Julius was Lux Mines, the second prince of the Mines Kingdom.
He had come seeking medicine for his ailing father, but this time he come to inquire whether the amount of medicine he had sent to his homeland was accurate.
“Well…”
Julius tried to speak vaguely, but Lux saw through that. He was convinced that Alex’s story was true.
Furthermore, it also meant they didn’t even know if the medicine amount for his father was correct.
“Is it true that you expelled the physician?”
“Well, we didn’t exactly expel him…”
“But he’s not here anymore, right? You don’t know where he went?”
In the face of Lux’s intense tone, Julius hinted at the possibility of the physician being in the Kingdom of Maldorado.
“Kingdom of Maldorado… I must head there immediately.”
Without looking back, Lux left the castle, heading for the Kingdom of Maldorado.
Observing this movement, many nobles concluded that “the physician is in the Kingdom of Maldorado.”
People from various countries started making their way to the Kingdom of Maldorado, to the capital city of Ditrust.
