The Cute Girl That Everyone Thinks Is Perfect Really Hates Me, But I Know Her Weakness Because I Was Raised In A Lab That Creates Perfect Humans - Chapter 24_ Miyazaki's Family
“I’m not really someone who can comment on this, but it’s important to go out of your comfort zone sometimes. Some things just don’t come naturally to some people, so you’ll have to put in more effort than others.”
Miyazaki-san looked up at me.
“You seem pretty popular. I assume that you probably think I’m pitiful.”
That wasn’t true at all.
Before Haruto-kun, I was completely alone.
If it wasn’t for him, I probably would’ve never thought about trying to interact with others. During the Ideal Human Project, my view of other people was completely distorted. I would’ve never thought that I’d ever be able to see someone else as anything other than a hollow shell.
I wonder what would’ve happened if I had never met him.
“I’m probably more similar to you in that way than you think.”
“Really? But you’ve got friends, and you’re good at socialising.”
“I wasn’t always this way.”
Suddenly, we were interrupted by the sound of someone coming in the front door. After a few moments, the sound of brash footsteps made their way to Miyazaki-san’s room.
“Onee-san, so you do have a boy in your room!”
“Ah! What are you doing, Umeko-chan?”
She stormed towards me.
“Who is this boy? Is he your boyfriend? Is he your colleague? Who is he?”
“H-he’s just a friend.”
She stared at me.
From what I could see, it seemed Miyazaki-san’s little sister was a tomboy. She was wearing loose shorts and a tight T-shirt. Grabbing me by the collar, she pulled me towards her a little.
I was now up close and personal with her.
“Why are you here? Are you trying to get cozy with onee-san?”
“No, I’m just a friend, as she said.”
“I don’t believe you! There’s no chance that you’re just here to have a chat. There have been a lot of boys trying to woo her recently. It seems you’ve gotten quite far!?”
“It’s not like that.”
She dug her nail into my forehead.
“You better not do anything funny with onee-san.”
Miyazaki-san pulled her away.
“Stop it, Umeko-chan!”
“Onee-san! He just wants your body. Get him out of here while you still can!”
“He’s not like that! You’re the one that needs to get out of my room.”
Her little sister seemed quite hurt by her statement.
“How could you…! I’m just trying to help you…”
“You need to show some more delicacy. You can’t just go attacking people you’ve just met!”
Miyazaki-san turned to me.
“Sorry about her, Mizutaka-kun.”
“It’s fine.”
I looked over at her little sister, who was standing just out the doorway with a teary look on her face. She was scratching at the frame, peering inside at us.
“You can let her stay here with us. It seems she cares about you a lot.”
“Ah… she’s always been like that. I don’t want to get angry at her, but she feels like an overprotective parent, and I’ve already got two.”
Miyazaki-san gestured for her to come back inside.
“Umeko-chan, you can stay, but stop attacking Mizutaka-kun.”
“Fine…”
She was still glaring at me. It reminded me of another certain someone. Sitting cross-legged on the ground, it seemed that she was restless, still displeased with the current situation.
I looked down at her.
“So, uh, Miyazaki-chan, are you an actor as well, like your sister?”
“Hmph, being an actor looks like too much of a hassle. I just want to spend my days playing football with my friends.”
Miyazaki-san tapped me on the shoulder.
“You know, it’s hard for us to talk when my little sister and I have the same last name. Y-you can… call me… Kaede… if you want…”
“Onee-san! You’re falling into his trap!”
Miyazaki-san was still waiting for my response.
“I guess that’s fine if you want, Kaede-san.”
She blushed.
“No! Onee-san, don’t let him call you th—”
“Can you shut it, Umeko-chan!? I’m trying to talk with R-r-riku-kun.”
Her little sister looked as if she was about to pass out.
This was a little more awkward than I would’ve liked.
“You know, Umeko-chan. R-riku-kun used to play football at a national level in Australia.”
“Huh?”
Well, there wasn’t any stopping it.
Her little sister looked at me again.
“Did you actually?”
“I guess so.”
“Hmph, well, you have good taste, at least.”
She crossed her arms and looked away.
What was this…?
Well, I wanted to talk about something with Kaede-san. It was a little inconvenient with her little sister here, but it didn’t really matter.
“Kaede-san, do you know anything about OAC Modeling?”
“OAC Modeling? Yeah, I know a little about them. What do you need to know? Did they scout you or something?”
“Yeah, I guess you could say that.”
“Hm, well, I could definitely see you being… anyways! They’re a pretty big agency, but the way they do things is pretty sketchy sometimes. They often get into fights with other agencies and try to poach their talents.”
“Oh. But don’t most places do that?”
“To an extent, but OAC are notorious for trying to bully smaller agencies out of the market.”
Well, that didn’t really matter too much. It might actually be better for me if they were a little more on the malevolent side since it would be easier for me to make movements within the industry with them as cover.
“I’ve worked with some of the models from their agency. They’ve got this weird thing called OAC Spectrum or whatever. The boys in that section are all incredibly stuck-up. It’s like they all think they’re better than everyone else. I don’t recommend getting too close with any of them, but I know the agency offers good terms.”
“That’s good to know. Thanks, Kaede-san.”
“Haa, if there’s one thing I have knowledge in, it’s the show industry.”
I guess I should take my leave soon.
I needed to begin making some preparations.
What a hassle.
