The Daily Routine of Raising a Wife. - Chapter 7
Jiang Yubo leaned against the doorframe, casting a dark glance at him.
Jiang Yujian: …
He sniffed and loudly declared, “I’m willing! Aunt Chen, I like it here the most!”
Satisfied with his response, Jiang Yubo turned away, briefly casting a glance at Shi Yu sitting on the carpet before looking away again.
He wasn’t interested in watching Shi Yu. Jiang Yujian wanted to play with Shi Yu, and Jiang Yubo reluctantly kept an eye on the two little troublemakers to prevent any mistakes.
Aunt Chen hesitated, “This—”
In the Jiang household, the two brothers couldn’t avoid each other. Since Jiang Yubo and Jiang Yujian appeared, Shi Yu had stiffened, his face cold, not speaking or moving, like a frozen little ball.
Aunt Chen made up her mind to find an excuse to take Shi Yu away. “Shi Yu is too young, and you two seem—”
“I can do it.”
In a slightly cold and calm voice, Shi Yu tugged at Aunt Chen’s sleeve, saying earnestly, “Auntie, go and do your work.”
He just didn’t want trouble. He knew how to behave and wouldn’t cause problems for others.
Jiang Yujian added, “Aunt Chen, don’t worry. I’ll play with him properly!”
Since he couldn’t go out anyway, playing with Shi Yu seemed like the better option to Jiang Yujian.
Aunt Chen hesitated for a moment. Although Jiang Yubo had a bad temper, he didn’t cause significant trouble. Shi Yu was quiet, maybe a bit playful like any other child but unlikely to annoy Jiang Yubo.
Moreover, as the steward of the Jiang household, Aunt Chen didn’t have much free time to be with Shi Yu. With these thoughts, she eventually agreed. She stood up and fetched some toys for Shi Yu, placing them around him.
Surrounded by a circle of toys, Shi Yu became even stiffer, not moving an inch.
There were delicate toys resembling fruits and vegetables, towering figures of monsters and superheroes only seen on TV inside. Shi Yu was afraid of breaking these toys.
Aunt Chen absentmindedly handed a soft, plush duck to Shi Yu. When he squeezed it, the duck emitted a “scream,” startling Shi Yu. He stared at the duck in his hand, bewildered and shocked, as if holding onto a ticking time bomb and in turn forgetting the mischievous brothers.
Aunt Chen chuckled softly, “Stay here and play with the young masters. Auntie will come and get you when it’s time for dinner.”
With everything settled, Aunt Chen spoke gently to the balled-up Shi Yu. Shi Yu almost instantly lifted his head, pursed his lips, and nodded obediently.
The pressure on the little duck caused it to emit a “quack.”
Shi Yu lowered his head to look at the duck in his hand. He didn’t want to stay here—not because he didn’t want to be with the toys, but because he was somewhat scared of the older boy behind him.
But he was a “guest” and he didn’t want to cause trouble for anyone.
Clutching his small fists tightly, he watched as Aunt Chen left the room, giving some quiet instructions to the strange brothers at the door. The menacing one leaned against the door, shooting a fierce glance at Shi Yu. In response, Shi Yu immediately turned his head away, showing only his back to him.
With everything settled, Aunt Chen left, waving to Shi Yu saying, “I’ll leave then.”
Shi Yu turned to watch her leave and waved his hand back, saying, “Goodbye, Auntie.”
Goodbye?? Saying goodbye again—why didn’t she say goodbye to him? Was she seeing him like a ghost?
Jiang Yubo thought as he chuckled in anger.
Now that Aunt Chen wasn’t around, dealing with Shi Yu was his responsibility.
He rolled up his sleeves, flexed his arm, and called out to Shi Yu, “Hey, little one,” then he later grabbed Jiang Yujian’s restless head.
Jiang Yujian, holding a bottle of milk, had taken a few steps but froze. He looked up at his brother and struggled, “Big brother, I can’t move. Don’t grab me.”
Jiang Yubo shot him a glance, gesturing towards the milk in his hand. “What are you doing?”
Jiang Yujian nervously hid the milk behind him, flustered. “N-Nothing.”
Actually, he wanted to give it to Shi Yu.
Jiang Yujian felt sorry for Shi Yu. His big brother was a super big bully. Initially, he wanted his brother to “teach Shi Yu a lesson” but he wanted to be friends with Shi Yu and didn’t want to see him get beaten up.
If he secretly gave Shi Yu the milk, maybe he would become his friend!
Jiang Yujian flailed his arms like an octopus, “I’m sorry, I know I was wrong, Brother!”
Just like a little kid bullied by the bigger kids in an orphanage. Jiang Yubo was really bad, even to his little brother. Shi Yu tensed up, and because he accidentally applied some force, he caused the little duck to emit another long “quack.”
Shi Yu was startled again. His hand loosened and the duck rolled onto the floor, bouncing twice and stopping right by Jiang Yubo’s feet.
Jiang Yubo glanced down, snatched the milk from Jiang Yujian, and tapped the tin with his hand in irritation saying, “This won’t do. It’s too cold. How can I give this to Shi Yu? Any slight temperature change could upset his stomach!”
“Get some warm milk quickly!” He ordered gruffly while shoving Jiang Yujian away and even giving him a fierce glare.
Terrified by the ten-level threat, Jiang Yujian completely forgot about Shi Yu and cried as he ran downstairs to find the nanny.
This guy…whether it was running out of money or having his credit cards frozen by the Jiang family, he was always causing trouble for Jiang Yubo. Under Jiang Yubo’s protection as the behind-the-scenes “big sponsor” brother, the younger generation of the Jiang family lived a carefree life, often bullying the younger kids. Therefore, Jiang Yubo, as the “big brother,” felt no guilt whatsoever.
Squinting, he clapped his hands and focused on the small assistant with his back towards him.
Hmm, now that it was in his hands, he’d make Shi Yu see how fearsome he could be and make sure he never dared to confront him again!
No….once Shi Yu left, they’d never cross paths again. Why did he need to make Shi Yu fear him?
Thinking about it, Jiang Yubo didn’t feel particularly pleased. In fact, he felt a little bit stifled. It must be because he found Shi Yu so disagreeable. Yes, that must be it.
Jiang Yubo squinted as he picked up the little duck from the floor and squeezed it, making it quack.
With disdain, he snorted, but the sound of the duck’s quacking caused Shi Yu, who was sitting with his back to him, to suddenly twist his body around.
Being so young, it was difficult for Shi Yu to turn around after hearing the quack, and he only managed to turn halfway, gripping the long strands of the carpet with both hands. His forehead was covered with soft curly baby hair, and his grape-like big eyes stared straight at Jiang Yubo, his jelly-like face swaying slightly.
He looked like one of those dolls his cousins carefully nurtured in a box.
What—a doll!
Shi Yu wasn’t that cute.
Startled by his gaze, Jiang Yubo felt awkward and gruffly asked Shi Yu, who was facing him, “What? Do you want this?”
Shi Yu wanted to retrieve the duck… Aunt Chen had entrusted it to him, but he looked at the grumpy teenager’s face and pursed his lips before turning back.
Jiang Yubo:…
Was he so detestable? That gaze that Shi Yu just gave him was definitely disdainful!
Holding the quacking duck, little Jiang Yubo fell into a state of embarrassment. He remembered the few brothers Shi Yu had in his previous life. They were clearly not as tall, not as handsome, not as educated, and not as wealthy as him!
However, Jiang Yubo once encountered them in a restaurant as he drove by. Even though Shi Yu was usually expressionless, almost like a robot, his special assistant in the greasy stall wore a carefully selected shirt, rolled up at the sleeves to his forearms, and had a slight smile as he clinked glasses with those jerks! They were even drinking cold beer! Cold Beer!
And this unfaithful special assistant didn’t report back to him when he returned home. Instead, he went to the guest room by himself! Jiang Yubo was so angry that he stormed to the guest room to grab him but found Shi Yu lying on the bed, clutching his stomach without saying a word, so Jiang Yubo immediately rushed him to the hospital, rubbed his stomach, and took care of him the whole night! Yet the next day, Shi Yu only thanked him as soon as he woke up! He was so distant and unfamiliar, completely different from the Shi Yu who brightened up while drinking with his brothers at the stall.
Jiang Yubo was consumed by raging anger.
He pinched the duck, angrily stomped on the floor, and plopped himself down right in front of Shi Yu, locking eyes with the little one with an intense glare.
The duck toy was “clamped” by him, its “dying” quacks resounding throughout the room.
