- The Most Beautiful Girl in School Who Got Engaged is Devoted to Her Marriage Even Though it was a Political Marriage
- Chapter 11 - My Future Wife Who Broke Into My Lonely Life [3]
It’s lunch break, and the classroom becomes lively.
While my classmates were chatting freely, I slipped out of the classroom alone. The destination is behind the emergency stairs to the north of the school building.
That’s the secret spot I found. Since there aren’t many people around, I try to come here when I want to think quietly. Well, the reason I’m heading there now isn’t to think.
When I arrived at the secret spot, I spread the sheet I had hidden nearby on the ground and placed the bag in my hand. Inside the bag is a bento prepared by Renge.
I didn’t ask for anything, but…
“I’m a wife, so it’s only natural that I make lunch for my husband!”
So she made it early in the morning with a triumphant look when she handed it over. It was annoying, even though I was grateful since I usually relied on the school cafeteria.
However, this bento was the reason I visited this secret spot. Alongside making my bento, Renge also made her own. In other words, the contents of my bento and Renge’s were the same.
We had never interacted with each other at all, but if it was noticed that we were carrying the same bento, it would be inevitable that people would think something had happened. If something unexpected happens, they might even find out that we’re living together. I came here to avoid such a situation.
I removed the bento box from the bag and opened the lid. After checking the contents of my lunch box, I took a deep breath.
“Even though I was so careful, this is what happened in the end?”
Meatballs, croquettes, a small omelet, potato salad, broccoli, and cherry tomatoes added for color and nutritional balance – all of the ingredients packed in the bento box were my favorites.
“I told you to enjoy yourself too, Renge. She doesn’t listen to other people.”
I was uttering bitter words, but my cheeks were relaxed. Somehow, I seemed to be delighted that Renge thought of me in some way. It’s a bit frustrating, though.
“I did it because I wanted to, so you don’t need to worry about it.”
“I’m not really worried. Well, I might chuckle about it, though…”
Expressing my thoughts like this makes me feel uneasy.
There’s hardly anyone around here, so why am I voicing these thoughts aloud?
…Well, there’s no need to dwell on it too much. After all, she has always surprised me with her unexpected actions and behavior.
I half-closed my eyes and looked next to me. Of course, Renge was there.
“This is a secret spot that only I know about. Why are you here? How did you find it?”
“I told you, right? It’s the power of love.”
“I honestly prefer straightforward girls, but….”
“I stalked you.”
“That “power of love” of yours is quite heavy, isn’t it?”
“Hehe, thank you.”
“I’m not praising you; I’m being sarcastic.”
This morning, I had a similar exchange, and as I reflected on it, I sighed. I vented my frustration along with that breath and scolded Renge.
“I thought we agreed to minimize our contact and not be seen together in places like this.”
“But wouldn’t it be okay here? Apparently, there are hardly any people who come near here.”
“Uh…”
“”The reason we’re avoiding contact is so that people don’t see us together, right? So, it should be okay while we’re here, right?”
“Uhuh…”
Since Renge’s statement was correct, I can’t refute it. All I can do is groan in frustration. Meanwhile, Renge sat down next to me and started opening her bento box.
…Just do what you want.
Realizing that I had no chance of winning no matter what, I gave up and dug into my lunch box.
A new attack was launched against me in this situation.
“Yes, Hidetsugu-kun. Here comes the airplane.”
“Wait a minute.”
Renge picked up her own meatball with her chopsticks and handed it to me. It’s a classic act of flirting between couples.
“Why would you do that?”
“I had always admired it, you know? Like the kind of thing you often see in romance manga and such.”
“Is that what you’re going to do to me?”
“Is that strange? We’re engaged, aren’t we?”
“It’s a political marriage.”
“It’s still a marriage.”
No matter how many words I say, it seems like Renge has no intention of giving in. Still, I couldn’t let her feed me like that.
Because–
“If I do that… it’ll be an indirect kiss, right? You wouldn’t like that, would you?”
“No, not at all. In fact, that’s what I want.”
Feeling my face flush, I played my last card, but it didn’t work on Renge. Instead of pulling the meatball away, she moved it closer to me.
“You’re saying that, but your face is all red! Stop it! You must be embarrassed, right!?”
“I won’t stop. There are moments where a girl can’t back down.”
“Definitely not now!”
Fine, I’ll stop!
I couldn’t help but turn my head away from the meatball.
“Even if you’re okay with it, I’m not okay!”
“You really won’t do it?”
“No!”
“…Well, if that’s the case, there’s nothing I can do. I don’t want to be persistent and end up being disliked.”
When I strongly refused, Renge withdrew the meatball with a sigh.
I managed to escape from the crisis and breathed a sigh of relief.
“Did you finally give up?”
“No, I haven’t given up at all, you know?”
“Huh?”
However, that relief was short-lived.
“Even if it’s not now, I’ll wait for the day when you accept it. Or rather, I’ll make sure you accept it.”
Determination can be seen in Renge’s eyes.
I hung my head in a dejected feeling.
“…Please give me a break.”
