The protagonist who hates losers is so sweet to me. - Chapter 50
“I think I’m quite obedient,” Yu Qing mumbled, his mouth still pinched.
Song Xinqi raised an eyebrow, the corner of his mouth curving into a slight smile, but his expression remained calm.
“So, do you have any ulterior motives towards me?” Yu Qing gazed at him, his eyes twinkling with faint expectation.
Song Xinqi made a noncommittal sound, his gaze shifting from Yu Qing’s pleading eyes to his pouted, red lips.
For a brief moment, their breaths mingled, and then his cold, hard lips pressed against Yu Qing’s warm, soft ones. The collision of cold and warmth burst into countless fragments, leaving Yu Qing completely dazed.
He stood there, stunned, as Song Xinqi pulled away. It wasn’t until he moved back that he realized what had just happened.
A blush spread across Yu Qing’s delicate face as he buried it in Song Xinqi’s chest and gave him a light thump.
“From now on, you’re not allowed to take tasks alone without my permission,” Song Xinqi looked down at him, who was reluctant to show his face.
“Mm-mm,” Yu Qing said, holding onto his arm with his slender fingers trembling slightly.
It was unbelievable that Song Xinqi, the almighty hero, had actually kissed him!
His brain was completely frozen by the sudden turn of events. It took him a while to muster the courage to look up at his serene eyes, and the warmth he had finally managed to dissipate surged back.
He covered his face and peered through his fingers, “So, are we… that kind of relationship now?”
Song Xinqi tapped his fingers on his arm, “What do you think?”
“Can we hold hands?”
“Yes.”
“Can we hug?”
“Yes.”
“Can we sleep together?”
“Depends on my mood.”
“Can I play with you?”
“When I’m not busy.”
Yu Qing asked a series of questions, and Song Xinqi patiently answered each one, curious about what this little fool wanted to say.
After asking everything, he propped up his chin and muttered, “It seems like it’s not much different from before.”
Song Xinqi’s face darkened, “Do you want to try something different?”
Noticing his increasingly dangerous aura, Yu Qing quickly waved his hands, “No, no.”
After saying that, he smiled brightly and leaned against Song Xinqi’s left side.
He hadn’t just brought up these things out of nowhere. When someone treats you well, you can’t completely ignore it.
Song Xinqi had always been good to him, but there was a difference between forced affection and willing affection.
Especially after Peng Shu confessed to him, his thoughts had started to tilt in a different direction.
He always felt that Song Xinqi treated him differently, and he really liked him. It was better to make it clear.
He didn’t expect things to go so smoothly. Song Xinqi must have liked him for a long time!
Seeing him calm down, Song Xinqi’s aura visibly diminished, leaving him with an unthreatening scowl, “Where did you get bitten by the mutant fish?”
Yu Qing rolled up his pants, revealing a bite mark on his slender, white calf. He patted the flesh next to it, “It doesn’t hurt.”
If it had hurt, he would have cried out.
“And where are Yu Xiaoxue and Yu Xiaobai?” Since the beginning, only the two of them had been in the room, and Song Xinqi had not seen any of the animals.
“Xiaobai is just an ordinary white mouse. According to Chu Yuan, it was left behind in the lab during the move. Without continuous injections of resistance inhibitors, it would have a 50% chance of becoming a zombie mouse, so it was taken away for artificial transformation. Xiaoxue went with it too.”
Song Xinqi frowned at the mention of Chu Yuan’s name, “Why are you still in contact with him?”
“It wasn’t my choice,” Yu Qing lowered his head, his voice soft and plaintive, “I didn’t want Xiaobai to turn into a zombie mouse.”
Song Xinqi did not pursue the matter further but asked, “When will they come back?”
Yu Qing slapped his forehead, “We can go get them now.”
Song Xinqi stood up, noticing he was still seated, “What are you waiting for? Let’s go.”
Although Yu Qing could have gone alone, he certainly wouldn’t refuse when Song Xinqi offered to come with him.
He initially walked behind him, but as he noticed Song Xinqi slowing down, he also slowed his pace.
Eventually, halfway there, Song Xinqi turned around and said, “Keep up.”
“I’m keeping up,” he responded.
Song Xinqi was silent for a moment before suddenly “tutting,” putting one hand behind his back and beckoning him.
Yu Qing, puzzled, placed his hand up, “Are we holding hands?”
Grasping Song Xinqi’s outstretched hand, Song Xinqi pulled him forward, causing him to walk quickly to keep up and walk side by side with him.
Song Xinqi walked forward with his gaze fixed ahead. If not for the half-hidden clasped hands, passersby would think he was dragging him off to feed the fish.
The research lab was on the edge of the artificial island. Although only two stories high, it was one of the tallest buildings in the safety zone, showing Song Xinqi’s emphasis on the research staff.
Of course, Song Xinqi’s concern was only reflected in their accommodation. He would still apply pressure to these generally “fragile” groups and often had a grudge against them due to Chu Yuan.
Yu Qing was familiar with the people here. When people tried to greet him, they only made faces at him while glancing at Song Xinqi, signaling him a welcome.
The touch on his hand faded, and his arm naturally fell. Noticing the gazes above him, he pressed closer to Song Xinqi to minimize his presence.
As they walked inside, Chu Yuan, wearing a white lab coat, emerged from a room. Upon seeing Song Xinqi, his warm smile slightly faded, “Chief Song, what brings you here?”
Song Xinqi lifted his chin, his sharply defined jawline showing a hint of coldness, “Enough talk. Hand over the two animals.”
Chu Yuan’s gaze shifted to the distance between them, a hint of inscrutable emotion in his eyes. As Song Xinqi narrowed his eyes, he quickly averted his gaze, “Please follow me.”
They entered the room Chu Yuan had just exited. A large tail was visible, swishing around, and Yu Xiaoxue, standing upright, had one paw on a long metal pillar and the other claw scratching at the cage holding Yu Xiaobai.
Yu Xiaobai now was about the size of a palm, fluffy all over, looking like a white plush ball with whiskers, an enlarged version of cute.
Upon hearing the noise at the door, the snow leopard darted to Yu Qing’s front and wrapped her fluffy tail around Yu Qing’s leg.
“Xiaobai has successfully mutated into a mutant mouse and is still in the growth phase. It needs regular feeding of crystal cores,” Chu Yuan said, picking up the cage and walking towards Yu Qing. However, Song Xinqi intercepted him, taking the cage from him.
He handed him a bag of crystal cores, adhering to the principle of exchanging goods for payment.
Chu Yuan: “I’m helping Yu Qing voluntarily.”
“Not needed.” Song Xinqi coldly scoffed, tossing the crystal core bag into the air. It arced and landed on the nearby table.
He then took the cage in one hand and Yu Qing in the other and left the research lab.
Breathing in the fresh air outside, Yu Qing became animated, letting Yu Xiaobai out of the cage.
The mutant mouse, with higher intelligence, sniffed his hand, circled around it, and its whiskers fluttered, clearly recognizing him.
A few hours later.
Song Xinqi heard a beastly roar from not far away. Many people were gathered around the task panel, and thinking of Yu Qing’s communication, his eyes darkened as he quickly strode in that direction.
Yu Xiaoxue had knocked down a few people who charged at her and was swiftly dodging through the crowd, looking for a way to break through.
Everyone was trying to contain her, with even earth-type abilities users raising earth walls to block an escape.
Yu Xiaoxue darted around in the crowd, her tail anxiously sweeping the ground, her sharp teeth gleaming brightly in the air.
“What are you doing?”
A cold voice cut through the crowd, like a bucket of ice water waking up the dazed onlookers.
Song Xinqi’s influence in the safety zone was unshakable. Just by standing there, everyone instantly calmed down and parted to give him a clear path.
A tall figure nearby was gleeful, knowing that Song Xinqi despised Yu Qing. He wondered if he would throw him out of the safety zone after this commotion.
Oh no, considering his temperament, he might even execute him on the spot.
Yu Qing turned warily towards the voice, and upon seeing Song Xinqi, who had appeared immediately after their call, he froze for a moment. His eyes were a bit red. In front of the crowd, he climbed down from Yu Xiaoxue and ran over to hug him, then complained, “They’re bullying me!”
Having just returned from clearing out mutant creatures, Song Xinqi still had zombie blood on his hands. He avoided the dirty areas and used his wrist to support Yu Qing’s back, his eyes, still filled with murderous intent, looked at the now silent crowd.
“Who is bullying you?”
