Actually, the reason Baron Bacher was poisoned is quite simple.
When Dekan entered the cooking classroom, he secretly placed three “Toxic Nails” into the pockets of the demon students.
Moreover, these were the latest versions improved by Dekan.
[Toxic Nails v2.4]
[Category: Spell Card]
[Rarity: Rare Blue]
[Tier: 2]
[Skill: Inflicts severe continuous poison and bleeding status; this spell can be triggered from a distance.]
[Note: Current version is 2.4, fixed the bug where toxins could be removed by second-tier purification magic – Developer’s Diary]
When Dekan heard Baron Bacher’s opening statement, “I sincerely invite you to join my dinner!”
He had a hunch that this game might end with the losers becoming Baron Bacher’s dinner.
After all, it was Baron Bacher’s dinner.
What did Baron Bacher want to eat?
It was quite obvious – the three little demons he saw with murderous desire in his eyes.
In that case, as long as Baron Bacher ate that demon student, there was a good chance the Toxic Nails would smoothly enter his stomach.
Using the Toxic Nails to hunt large magical beasts was a tactic Dekan had consistently used since his days on the Kulan Border.
First, capture small creatures that magical beasts liked to eat.
Place the Toxic Nails inside the small creature.
Then drive it towards the vicinity of the large magical beast’s habitat.
Once the large magical beast captured and consumed the small creature, summon the Ruined Poet in the shadows and trigger the Toxic Nails.
As long as Dekan supplied mana continuously, the Toxic Nails would not disappear.
The most crucial point was that Dekan had softened them, made it more flexible and coated it with a special corrosion-resistant paint.
Once the prey swallowed this card, it would continue to trigger inside its stomach, killing it without spilling a drop of blood.
The only downside was that retrieving the card was a bit troublesome, and he probably wouldn’t get those three cards back from Baron Bacher.
But that wasn’t a big problem; it was time to develop a new version.
“Cornelia, help me tie him up,” commanded Dekan.
Cornelia nodded, put away her hammer, and took another card that Dekan handed her.
[Steel Rope]
[Category: Equipment Card]
[Rarity: Common White]
[Tier: 1]
[Skill: None]
[Note: Can also be used as a weapon.]
This is the epitome of strength and geometry, made by twisting steel wires together into a helix with a core and lubricant.
Even though it was a 1st tier common card, after being tightly bound by the wire rope, even a 4th tier warrior wouldn’t be able to break it by brute force.
Cornelia tied up the painfully twitching Baron Bacher, and once again stamped her foot on his back to keep him still.
“There.”
“So tiring.”
Dekan slowly raised his right hand, and the Ruined Poet turned into a stream of light that gathered between his fingers and turned back into a card.
Bacher immediately felt like he had been reborn.
The pain that had been eating away at him diminished dramatically in an instant, as if a curse had been lifted.
It took a while for his consciousness to return to his mind.
Although he was still tortured by the pain, compared to what he had just experienced, the breaths he took weren’t as painful as before.
“Are you in the mood to talk to me now?” Dekan leaned forward slightly, and looked at Baron Bacher from above.
“Die!”
Baron Bacher only had one thought in his mind.
Kill him, now!
He’s the source of all evil!
Baron Bacher’s eyes were filled with a bloodthirsty light, and he used all his strength to try to break free from this rope that didn’t seem too thick, but he found that it was unusually strong.
There’s no magic attached to the rope! How is it not breaking?
Trying to break the rope but finding it ineffective, Baron Bacher once again stretched out his neck and tried to devour Dekan.
However, before he could return to his original form, Cornelia slammed his head into the ground with a vicious hammer, the ground sinking into a small crater.
“AHHHH!!!” Baron Bacher howled.
It was so painful!
Obviously, the damage wasn’t that fatal, but the pain was incomparable!
Now Baron Bacher was already very weak and couldn’t resist Cornelia’s brute force attack at all.
“Alas, it seems that I have to give you some impressive memories.”
Dekan sighed and threw his card, summoning the Ruined Poet.
“This darkness, this hope is gone, there is no salvation, because this darkness is myself…”
With this chorus, which made Baron Bacher’s scalp tingle, the brief moment of peace ended in an instant.
He was plunged back into that state of extreme agony, the pain from within his body surged again, his body and mind were constantly being destroyed…
Baron Bacher’s face turned white as he opened his mouth and let out an uncontrollable, garbled sound.
He finally realised that this black mist surrounding the summon was the source of his pain.
“Cornelia, don’t hit him too hard, just give him a light tap on the shoulder blade.”
Cornelia swung the hammer in her hand again.
[Terrorist War Hammer]
[Category: Equipment Card]
[Grade: Rare Blue]
[Tier: 2]
[Attack bonus: 200]
[Skill: When struck by this weapon, it causes double the amount of pain.]
[Note: “Here’s Cornelia!”]. [1]
This was a special hammer Dekan had crafted for Cornelia, perfectly suited to her abilities.
Dekan couldn’t currently forge a longsword that could withstand Cornelia’s strength, so he had temporarily crafted her a blunt weapon.
Compared to a sword, blunt weapons were less likely to break.
The size of this hammer was much larger than a typical tool hammer, with a handle about as long as the blade of Cornelia’s original sword.
So, Cornelia found it surprisingly easy to wield.
When Baron Bacher was hit with the Terror War Hammer earlier, the Ruined Poet wasn’t activated, so it only inflicted double the pain.
Now, with the Ruined Poet, when Cornelia struck him with the hammer, it would be an unprecedented twenty times the pain for Baron Bacher.
Cornelia seemed to be making an effort to control the force.
Then, she tapped Baron Bacher’s shoulder like cracking a walnut.
“Ahhhhhhhhh!!!”
An extremely shrill cry of agony echoed through the cooking classroom.
“How is it?” asked Dekan.
Baron Bacher seemed unable to speak and was convulsing wildly on the floor.
Dekan smirked, “Baron Bacher, do you know what it feels like to wake up in pain after passing out from pain?”
“Ahhhhh…Ggrrgl…”
“Cornelia, when he regains some consciousness, start with his right hand, then his left hand, and then his left foot.”
“What about his right foot?”
“Leave that one. I want to give him a hard time with his OCD.”
Cornelia nodded.
She didn’t have OCD, but the meticulous Baron Bacher likely did, given how he kept everything in the cooking classroom perfectly organized and was very particular about the position of his tie.
