Cornelia quickly ran to the dining car and picked up the plate that was originally her dinner, then sat down next to Dekan and began to enjoy it.
Dekan leaned back in his chair and stared at the ceiling, recalling the information they had just obtained in his mind.
Now that he had information, he had to plan his next strategy carefully.
After their break, there were still nine and a half hours left.
While Mission 2 (Rescue Hostages) had been achieved, Mission 1 (Exploration) was only at 8.6% progress.
They were far from reaching the required 50% completion.
There were two reasons for their slow progress.
Firstly, Dekan and Cornelia had spent too much time in this room. Exploring the cooking classroom had only increased the total progress by about 1%.
Secondly, they hadn’t yet reached the boss room. The boss room was likely to reward extremely high exploration progress.
Fortunately, the other four challengers were exploring at a decent pace.
The team composition of the four was most likely a fifth tier, two fourth tiers, and one deadweight.
In the matchmaking mechanism, a team with one fifth tier and one third tier wouldn’t be considered suitable for a fourth tier difficulty.
Fifth tier challengers had the ability to breeze through some of the levels in the fourth tier worlds.
The advantages they brought might need several lower-tier challengers to balance out.
So Dekan and Cornelia were likely meant to be cannon fodder to balance out the advantages of the five-tier challenger.
Or what should have been cannon fodder…
“We’re so lucky to have such a good teacher like Bacher,” Dekan couldn’t help but sigh.
Cornelia glanced at him while eating her dinner.
She restrained herself from making a sarcastic comment.
Ever since Dekan arrived in the Shadow World, she felt like she had broken all mortal restraints.
But that was a good thing. It made her, as a teammate, feel more at ease.
She didn’t need to think too much; Dekan orders, and she executes, making it easy to conquer the Shadow World.
There was nothing more ideal than that.
…
“Cheers!” Dekan’s wine glass lightly touched Cornelia’s.
They both began to drink.
After dealing with Baron Bacher, they found that this classroom was quite nice.
What’s this about a “killing game”? This was clearly a candlelit dinner!
If only their other teammates were a bit more competent, they wouldn’t have bothered to go out.
“Ah, the celebrations can wait until we get back.” Dekan sighed, already feeling reluctant to move.
“When we get back, we’ll definitely have a good meal,” Cornelia leaned back in her chair, feeling that the Shadow World was truly harmonious and beautiful.
“Don’t set up flags, even the two of us might not make it back safely.”
“What do you mean by ‘flag’?”
“Some death lines, once spoken, practically guarantee that you won’t survive. So, you can’t just say them anyway, especially when a lot of people are watching us.”
“Got it.”
Dekan checked the time and reluctantly stood up.
It was about time to get going.
He walked over to Baron Bacher, untied the steel rope that bound him, and found the demon pass in his pocket.
“Cornelia, could you please take Baron Bacher with us?”
“Of course.”
Cornelia quickly approached and grabbed Baron Bacher’s feet, dragging him out of the classroom.
It was already time for the next period to start, and the two of them walked through the corridor.
From time to time, there were students who passed by and gave them a surprised look.
The demon students had never seen students dragging an unconscious teacher down the hallway before!
Moreover, the teacher had such a conspicuous injury on his head, as if his head had been deformed by a blunt object.
It couldn’t be these two, could it?
The students were too scared to ask, fearing to provoke these two ominous looking demons.
…
Based on the information obtained from the interrogation, Dekan found their destination not long after – the infirmary.
As one of the few public facilities that Baron Bacher was quite familiar with, the school’s infirmary was also quite abnormal.
The evil demon doctor in the infirmary conducted experiments on the injured.
If a patient entered, there was a chance they would be healed, but there was also a chance they would be used for experiments.
However, if a healthy student hid inside, the demon doctor would forcibly kidnap them for experimentation.
Although they would suffer great pain, there was a chance they could gain strength.
It was a functional room that depended on luck.
Dekan and Cornelia rushed into the room, pretending to be in a hurry. The room didn’t look like an infirmary at all but more like Frankenstein’s laboratory.
The place was filled with darkness and decay, with jars and containers filled with black liquid containing unknown biological organs on the cabinet.
In a row of large glass tanks against the wall, lay various creatures, some emaciated, while others were covered in red tumors.
In the middle of the infirmary, there was an operating table with a figure turned away from Dekan and Cornelia.
Realizing the presence of intruders, the figure turned its head.
The school doctor was a horrifying thin old man, his face adorned with various metal patches.
Instead of a scalpel, he held a saw in his hand.
He exuded a suffocating stench of decay, and his eyes didn’t hide his murderous intent.
He seemed to have found his prey and was about to attack Deccan and Cornelia in the next second.
Just as he was about to activate the killing mechanism in this room…
“Our teacher Baron Bacher is suffering from food poisoning! Please, help him!” Dekan exclaimed.
“Baron Bacher?” The demon school doctor was initially puzzled, but his attention was quickly drawn to the demon Cornelia was dragging.
He seemed to have discovered something very interesting, dropping the saw in his hand and quickly walking to the demon Cornelia was dragging, examining the unconscious figure on the ground.
“Place him on the operating table,” the demon doctor instructed, paying no further attention to Dekan and Cornelia themselves.
Cornelia followed the instructions and moved Baron Bacher onto the operating table, laying him down.
Then she retreated to Dekan’s side.
The demon school doctor began to examine Baron Bacher, finally confirming that he was indeed Baron Bacher after a thorough inspection.
“Why is there such a large bruise on his head?” The school doctor asked in disbelief.
“The teacher went berserk after the food poisoning, and kept hurting himself so much that he finally knocked his head on the corner of the table and fainted.” Dekan earnestly made up a story.
“While he was still sane, he told us that if we brought him to the infirmary, you could save him, and he agreed to any modifications you might need to perform on him!” Dekan babbled with a straight face.
The demon doctor’s mouth twitched.
Bullshit, it’s obvious that you two caused this!
Although he didn’t know how Dekan and Cornelia did it, he didn’t want to listen to Dekan’s bullshit anymore.
Because he couldn’t wait to start modifying Baron Bacher.
The opportunity to modify a teacher was rare.
Even if Dekan’s story was all lies, as long as there was a plausible explanation, he could pretend to be confused and modify Baron Bacher, and the principal wouldn’t be able to blame him.
“Tsk, you two, leave now. I’ll let you go this time,” the demon school doctor urged them to leave and started restraining Baron Bacher on the operating table…
The devil doctor rushed the two to leave, and tied up Bacher on the operation table. ……
Dekan gave a thumbs up to Cornelia.
Mission success.
Exploration has gained about 1%.
